im prolly an idiot but

i cant find any apprentice training for pick pocketing, and i need it so i can
get enough money to buy the ship to get to thanatos. i know i couldve done stringy petes quests , but i killed him thinking i would get the ship

i tried the bars and taverns, but no one could offer it, and ive tried the boil too, but no luck there. so is there anyone in a particular location that coul help me in tarant, or anywhere else ? with meele or dodge, you can get it by any soldier, but this is so much harder!

 

Try 'Mr Black' - I think that's where I got my training one time.

 

It's not Mr Black himself, but the thieves around him. To train you must be member of the thieves guild though.

 

There's a halfling in the tavern in Black Root that will apprentice you in pickpockets.

If you can't find him in Black Root, he might be in Dernholm. I forget the name of the city because it's been a while since I played the game. The broken down city where Jayna Stiles is, that's the city you want to be in.

i knowthis is a newbie question, but what is the thieves guild and how do you get in?

the halfling in the bar/inn doesnt offer it, and definitely not the beggar outside, and i didnt see any other places like bars

Well, he's short, evil, and has technological apptitude. And he likes guns. Which makes him a pretty good follower.

 

Try in Tarant (train station - there is a halfling woman dressed in blue. She's a part of thieves and I think that she could help you!)

I think there's a blacksmith somewhere who trains you to Apprentice. I'm not sure where, though. I think it's either Blackroot of Dernholm.
