There are a few things about Arcanum that I can't quite figure out: 1. why don't items like armor and weapons affect me like they say they will, for example, i have an ax with +1 strength and constitution but when i equip it it doesn't affect my stats. relatedly, why are some items' modifiers in parentheses? 2. can one's followers be trained? 3. what does DOT mean? for example i have a cloak that says FT DOT Thanks a lot
Ok, here we go. ::takes a very large breath:: 1. First of all are you a mage or techie. If the item's magic, it will only give you the full benifit if you have Magickal Aptitude. If you don't it will only give part benifit. I'm not sure if this affects Tech items, though. If oyu have no aptitude either way, it gives half benifits. I don't think it can give you +.5 Strength and +.5 Constitution. 2. They can only be trained if you use the educator background. Even then, they can only be trained to one lower rank than you have. And if I conpletely misinterprited your question, and you meant about choosing where they put Character Points in every level, no you can't. Well, actually you CAN, but you have to play around with the game's files, and that can get messy if you don't know what you're doing. 3. If my EQ experience does me justice, I think DOT means "Damage over Time". It means you slowly take damage as you wear it. Or in this case, the FT means fatigue, and the cloak will slowly drain your Fatigue. There! I hope I answered your questions as well as possible.
