Why the heck does any rat and alike hit me more than I hit them. I have a nice sword with 50+ crit hit and 20- crit miss, still I do more damage to my armor than to the foes?
    I don't get it..
    3 hits:
    SCHWING-MISS 50% DAMAGE, ARMOR DAMAGE
    SCHWING-MISS 100%, 100 % ARMOR DAMAGE
    SCHWING- -100 DAMAGE

I killed myself, with nice weapons and all...it's too unbalanced.

Ah well, my second day only and I found a way through those nasty seething thingies in that Black Dwarf quest..I'm still alive

But really, how can a char at 15 ever challenge a 45?
Or worse, I went to town to town with not much fighting, trying to play nice. GACK!

    The game wants me?

What I really mean is: Are rats skilled as masters? I can be an expert dodger and expert Melee guy walking around and still get my ass kicked by some rats?

And another thing! Those "Seething" stuff in the mine...how the heck can they strip ypur armor in one hit..and then kill you the next? Is that fun? There must be a reason?

    No spoilers...Sorry!

Do you have melee weapon skill? You should spend a few points for melee, if you plan to fight melee.

If you a tech you should use tech weapons, likewise if you are magic you should use magic weapons. If you do not follow that "rule," you are more likely to have failures and critical failures like that.

Those "seething" looking things do massive fire damage. fire dmg alone is armor damaging. If your armor have 80hp or less, it do get burned in one or 2 hit.

Also, your melee skill is dependent on DEX. If you DEX sucks then your melee skill will too.

BTW, welcome to the forum. :wavey:

Is that the filament sword? I thought it increased the chance of your doing a crit miss, while giving a +50 damage bonus to critical hits?

    Filament Sword

If you're a techie you really shouldn't use the filament sword. Your chance of hitting yourself goes way up with high Tech App.

And the filament is kinda dangerous anyway since it seems to critical miss more often even if you aren't a techie.

I raised dex and melee and do much better now, thanks  And yep, it was that filament sword...I changed it to some power axe I found and that thingie does some nice damage (to the foes that is, lol)

I still walk the middle way...not leaning to either tech or magery just yet, perhaps I have to choose one side soon, but I have fun as it is.

You could be a mage using a tech sword or vice versa. I did that. I was a dwarven tech and I was using a maigc sword by accident and I got killed by a flippin rat
