Hi all! I'm new to the forum, and I have some potentially dumb problems. 1) King Praetor-I've having a tough time getting his taxes back. Dante wouldn't join me the first time I talked to him (he said I was too green) and now that I've leveled up subtantially I can't ask him again. I wouldn't care so much, but I can't talk to the mayor. After greetings from him, my only option is to say good day. Argh! 2) Throwing quest-Clarissa didn't give it to me, and now I'm in the same situation as with the Mayor-no conversation. 3) Halflings-I've read about a halfling riddle-fest, but I can't find them. 4) Gladys ring-back in dernholm, I left them both muttering about the other one after I peaked their romantic interest in each other, but no proposal so far. Anything else I need to be doing? 5) Bates Mansion-anything interesting under the trapdoor in the servants quarters? I've explored a little, but just found locked doors and numerous traps. Should I be more persistant? That's all that's driving me crazy so far. Thanks for your help!
First of all welcome to the forum!!! 1. Use a fate point if you can't pickpocket. 2. Did you have adequate skill in throwing when you asked her? 3. I think they're in Black Root. I can't remember correctly though. 4. I always just kill the guy unless I'm a persuasion character( like that happens often) so I don't know. 5. No. It is only useful if you intend on betraying Bates to Applebee.
3) the 1st halfling's right of the mayor's house , near the coast . 4) you need persuasion to convince them to talk to each other , if you dont have per . ? just kill him .
4) No you don't need to do anything else. 1) You probably got the quest to get his dagger for him. Check you journal for the quests that you currently have open.
(5) Actually I think the bates' tunnel is the path into Bates' Mansion when you blackmail Appleby. If you follow Appleby, he will give you some servant's clothing instead. Either way you will get a Fate Point, if you get/steal the key from Appleby and explore the tunnel starting from the graveyard to the mansion. The trap in the tunnel is kind of annoying so you might want to take precaution.

Strangely I never got the dagger quest from him. 2) No, didn't have enough skill. Rats. 3) Found these guys. Strange quest! 4) Hmmm. Guess I need some more persuasion! I'm playing a goody two shoes character, so I'd hate to kill someone unnecessarily 5) I found the traps quite irritating, so didn't explore too much. Now, if only I could get virgil and magnus to like me again. They somehow went south when I was in the Black Mountain Mine. I read some of the other threads, sounds like theres a patch I need? Will it fix their reactions retroactively?
