    ^^^ And why?

I alternate  if i'm in a dungeon with all these pesky little level 5s I use real time, but if its something that matters, turn.

    Fast Turn Based because:

    1. My character is a gunslinger which makes him not the most powerful creature in Arcanum.

    2. Real Time is too fast and besides I like to have a strategy during fighting not just some click 'em all as fast as you can nonsense.

I tried realtime when I started, but I'd either die right away or not get in on many kills...so I switched to turn based..I think the game is more fun this way & it does allow for the use of an actual stratagy.

turn based all the way. The game was not designed with enough balance ot be a real time rpg. Its too easy for a level 1 Ailing wolf to get in a critical hit and a stunn with a knockdown. I had it happen and I was at level 35 or so. How stupid is that. Turn based all the way. Its an RPG not a hack and slash

turn-based... grenades and cocktails don't use any points this way... also, i've never been any good at real-time combat in any game... i'm a strategy girl all the way...

Sounds unanimous so far....all add my vote for turn-based, real time is too hectic!

    turn based

Not that I don't like to disagree sometimes for disagreement sake (but only to agreeably disagree) but I have the throw in my vote for turn based as well. Real time seems a bit too hectic for a lot of characters. Those with a spells that don't come up often enough for the justify the quick-icon bar (or whatever thats called) or those that rely heavily on their inventory (explosive tech characters) for the same reason to name a couple.

    Definitely Real-Time.

Both modes suck actually: real-time isn't as good as Baldur's Gate (which incidently is exactly the same as Breach3, and very similar to XCom Apocalypse), and turn-based isn't as good as Fallout.

The only time I had to switch to turn-based was when I killed the gunslinger gang near Ashbury. If I tried to approach in R-T, they started shooting when I was like 50 meters from the granary, and killed the woman.

I used T-B in combat mode to walk into the granary, and they battle didn't start until I was between them and the door (but it was such a pain, I immediately switched back to R-T)

Real-Time is more fun (but you really should save before any big fight) and I think is less f:):):)ed-up. Still, it's way too fast.

(Baldur has the best R-T combat IMO, until I make my own RPG, hehe)

I think we already had a discussion about this, but I go for real-time in this game. I consider myself quite adept at strategy games, but I am just too strong in this game to have to waste time on any enemies in turn-based.

    RT or TB

It's real time for me, except for Falcon's Ache. Turn-based is the only way to go there.

Yep, we did: Turn based or Real Time, which did you play?

But it's one of those things that keeps comming back. (Just hang around the BIS forums. Sooner or later, most threads get turned into an RT vs TB flame war  )

For my current character, a thief, I use Fast Turn Based for most of my battles because it is impossible to backstab in Real Time.

It is nice that Troika implimented this fast switching system. (Space Bar)

Turn-based. Even though Arcanum's turn-based is horribly done(afterthought anyone?), it's still way better than real time, which I loathe for some forgotten reason...
