well it started about in october. i went to k-mart with my friend and we decided to go in the computer games section. and what i saw amazed me their on a box the coolest artwork of a game with magic and hi tech crap, wich is rarely seen in video games , and all the coolest creatures. so i waited 2 months till christmas to get it, played it loved it
i was looking for a random demo of a new game, found arcanum, played it, tried to download it for free, it was too big, bugged my bf, made him get out of bed at 3 a.m., he went to walmart, i grabbed the game, he bought it, i installed it, didn't stop playing for a couple of weeks, got him addicted, got his brother addicted, got his nephew addicted, had to restart my first game, discovered the forum, found a new purpose for my long lost life... or something...
I had the same thing happen to me except it was with heroin. With Arcanum, I was going on a trip for work and I wanted to find a new game for my work laptop that I could play in my hotel room, because the guy I was on the trip with was a dork and I didn't want to socialize with him.
I read about it...somewhere. I followed the game development for several years, and got it as soon as it hit the shelves.
I went into Babbages and looked for about an hour. I saw it and compared it to the other games I wanted. I do this every time I buy a game. I always piss my mom off when I do this.
I read about it in a magazine, then found it on a "Best Sellers" shelf..... One week later it was on sale half price!
Don't tell me you heard about it from that same crazy f**k who kept on blabbering that Arcanum was the sequel to Fallout? Dang, that's how I heard about it...
I read about Arcanum on GameSpot that it's made by the group of people that made Fallout (and left Interplay to start a new company). I read some more reviews on various sites after it gone gold. Then it's on my "Must Buy" list.
Yeah, i heard about Troika on NMA and figured anything that Tim Cain and...those...other two people...made couldn't be bad, i didn't even bother with the demo, bought it the week it came out.
the first time i saw it was in k-mart too, i was looking for a game for my brand new comp and was intrigued by the box's claims about mixing tech and magicks so i thought i'd take a risk and bought it and loved it.
