Anyone know where Jarinor has gone to? He's been absent for a few days, and I don't recall him requesting leave.

If he's gone out and got himself a life, I ain't gonna be pleased ...

Wong, if you knew Jar, like I know Jar, a four day absence would cause you concern too.

I wonder if he finally had the accident we all expected while letting his dog pleasure him. :ponder:

    Well said, Kozmo.
And I don't know Jar at all, let alone as well as you guys... I can only guess as to what that accident would be. :p
    Hope he's ok, though.

We have a rash of home break-ins in my neighborhood.

Maybe Jar is on vacation here in the States.

It's very nice to see your concern there Sheriff...wait, I seem to have forgotten something...here it is:

Ba ba da da da da DAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Okay, back to business. I was on a forced hiatius due to this dodgy computer.

No, I didn't skip to the States, or even think about it. My friend was over there recently, and said that apart from the broadband and Cable TV scene, the States blows. There you go, definite proof Australia is better!

Although, I did think about skipping to England a couple of days ago...it was soundign all cliched and romantic until I realised that I would have nowhere to stay, no job and no employable skill. So I didn't buy a one way plane ticket and go to the airport.

Dunno. Close enough to Mexico to be able to drive there in less than a day though...

Power was going out all the time because if you had the fridge on, you couldn't have all this other stuff on, etc etc etc. 120V in States doesn't compare to 240V over here. NTSC also sucks, apparently. I can't say I've experience this myself though.

He must have been in California. There are too many left wing wackos there to allow more power plants to be built, that's why they are having a crisis out there. As far as 120V being better than 240V I would beg to differ. 240V is great for industrial use (it is what is normally used here). 120V is safer for home use because it is harder to create seriously high amperage. We do have 240V applications in households though. Appliances that rely on resistance to work (ie stoves and cloths dryers) are 240V.

Dunno about the better or worse thing, but I wish it was a global standard. Travelling around is a pain in the arse when you have to find someone to sell you special plug adapters.

Our industrial supplies are 3-phase generally, because single-phase is inadequate, even using our slightly higher voltage. BTW, in recent years, our voltage has been taken to be 230V, or rather 220-240V. I think there is a similar deal with the USA using an approximate value, too.

While I was gone I developed and refined my own communist theory. Who wants to be my minion?

Yes we do approximate values for voltage. The biggest difference in power between countries is in the frequency. You guys use 50Hz (at least you did last time I was there) and we use 60Hz. That is the biggest pain when getting electronics from "across the pond".

Jar, can I be your Head of Security (read leg-breaking enforcer)?

Jar your theory is tainted by Bourgeoisie notions of class. You will be purged in the name of ideological purity

Sheriff, if you provide your own uniform, training and weapons, then sure, you can have them . You can be my head of, um, Propaganda.

    Yeah...

Sheriff Fatman, Head of Propaganda. Vlad the Imposter, Head of Security. Lots of positions are ups for grabs. If you suggest a position, and I think you are suited for it, then you're in!

ThreeDogs, I said it was a revised theory. Quite different to Marx's (although I really should read Das Kapital one of these days...it's on the list at the moment with Mein Kampf (interest sake), The Little Red Book (Mao's Communist book) and The Art of War (by Sun Tzu)).
