OK -so I get to Tulla and see the head mage, who tells me I need to speak with the ghost out front who doesn't talk to anyone. When I ask him how to do this, he says

    "only you can decide that"

or something along those lines. I am totally stuck and don't know where to go from here. help!

Without spoiling it too much, you have to find Pelojian's amulet. It's in one of the locked houses in Tulla. You're supposed to do a drawn out thing were you step on blocks to unlock the doors, but to save time, you can unlock them through normal means.

You can not unlock the door with the amulet.
Remember how you had to look at the mural on the first floor? Study the mural and then look at the signs on the buildings you have to enter. If you want more post again and I'll spoil it.

I unlocked the door. I just used Unlock Cantrip on the four houses. Opened all the doors, no problem. My Magic Aptitude was at 100 when I did it.

I think I got sick of that Tulla sign stepping and just blasted the doors open with my Trusty Looking Glass Rifle [TM]. THEN I realised that I was stepping on force instead of another sign or something that I needed.... I kept getting those damn magick signs confused... Stupid Mages.... Might be why I killed them all... Heh... I like that they used their fists to attack me too. 'Hi I'm a really powerful mage, I'm not going o cast Instant-Death [TM] on you, instead, I will beat you with my fists'.

Ummm.... Anyway... The signs man... Step on the signs....

I really like your Avatar Milo.... One day... When I make 1000 posts, my cow will be up there...

Don't know Milo I just did Tulla again a couple of days ago. my mage was lvl 40 or 41 w/ 100% magical app. Its not that the spell did not work. Putting the arrow over the door did not give a list of hit points or the option of the unlocking spell. I figured this was a design intent to force people to complete the stupid boreing step on the disk quest.

As in other posts about supposedly un-unlockable doors, I don't know if the level I attained is necessary. But I have 20 dex, master lockpicking auto skeleton key and 40ish magic apt. I had 0 difficulty picking the doors.

If you've already been through the game, and you know which symbols around the Pool to step on, all you need is the Amulet. You don't need the books at all. Just unlock the one door through normal means, put on the Amulet, and do your thing with Pelojian.

You're probably right, Three Dogs. It's been awhile since I've played. Now that I'm reading these other posts, I'm not so sure that I used Unlock Cantrip. I think I might've just bashed the doors down. Either that, or I did use Unlock Cantrip, but it was with an older patch of the game.

Thanks, DU. I found a bunch of pics from the "Minister of Silly Walks" Monty Python sketch and put them together in ImageReady.

Speaking of your cow... What's the story behind that? "Moo... Moo... I'm an Interplay/Troika cow." I got a chuckle out of it.
