Dread armour is barbarian armour and thus rather revealing. Give it to Virgil instead of wearing it yourself since there's a negative reaction for it.

The best armour must be the Iron Clan armour (can only be worn by dwarves). The Elite Plate is very good and the machined plate too if you use the strength-bonus fix. I'm not sure about which magical armour is best. I found a magical plate in Kerghan's castle that I never identified for obvious reasons. Does anyone know what it is?

Arcane plate is the best I have found. Mystic plate is the next step down. This holds true for all articles e.g. helm, swords, rings, ect.

Just a quick note: Halflings can wear Iron Clan Armour, too.

Any kind of armor like that is revealing. Like Dark Barbarian Clothes. Women get espeically hard reaction penalties when they wear barbarian armor. I dont see why, they are wearing a thong and practically have NOTHING covering thier chest.

Heres a small bit of advice regarding the wearing of Barbarian armour and what not. Yes, NPCs tend to throw some interesting remark at you if you wear it and sometimes have a less positive reaction. However, Dread Armour and the Bronze Barbarian armour are definitely great armour to be wearing in a fight. Here's how to handle it all. When you go to Tarant or the next city you get to or are in, visit the local tailor and purchase a Smoking Jacket. These incur a +20 reaction to you from most NPCs. Wear that around cities/towns, etc. Then when you leave town or hit the sewers or whatever, switch into that barbarian armour. You can even put armour in your hotbank and when you click on it will automatically don it. Most of the time you will not have to fight and talk to NPCs at the same time, so you can keep and wear the armour when you've got a fight to go to and wear the jacket when you just need to talk. Get what I'm telling you?

i wear a full plate armour (AC 10 (+15) + 10 to all resistants). and then i saw a dread armour (10 (+31) etc.) which is quite better by far. note that i am a mage (something below 50%) level 30.

the point is when i wear the dread armour my defence rate decrease frome 78 to 62. why? it suppose to be the other way around, isn't it?

I think that's because the defense rating is an overall, average score of all defense ratings. The drop is because of the absence of the +10 to all resistances, which is provided by plate but not dread armor.

You can click/mouse-over the defense rating (the large number) to see detailed information.
