Newbies anonymous

Hello, my name is Berbal... and I... (breaths deeply) ...I'm a... I'm a newb! (breaks down crying)

Now that i have made it clear that im a newb to this forum, what is this forum about? I thought arcanum, but maybe im wrong, im just kinda confused. Also, i read some of the other posts and what is an "avatar"??

Avatars are the little pictures underneath the name of the poster. For example, yours at the moment is a railroad spike, and mine is a hammer. If you post often enough, you'll move up through the layers of avatars, getting better and better pictures - at the moment the highest is the Vision-Enhancing-Goggles.
And if you piss of the moderators enough, they'll make you a special one, like Bortiis's Gerbils-Eating-Brains avatar of Jarinor's Crazy-Old-Man avatar.

For starters, I swear that isn't a rail road spike. Although, it does look remarkably like the orc-swords in FotR...The avatar was around before the movie, I still stand by my opinion that it isn't a railroad spike.

Also Etalis, who said that my avatar was a punishment? I wanted this one for ages, and Jinxed finally gave it to me...At least, I think it's not punishment...If it is, why don't more people like S&M?

 

That doesn't look a heckuva lot like a railroad spike to me either. I thought it was some kinda broken sword or something...

It looks more like a real railroad spike than what the art in Arcanum. then again the one in Arcanum maybe what they used in that time period but the ones they for the NYC subway system and the Long Island Railroad look like the avatar on this forum.

 

I don't know whether it's a railroad spike or not (doesn't look like one to me) but IMO it would be easiest to just ask the person who designed it.

 

Even Calis doesn't know what it is - at least, I think I remember him saying that.

If anything, it looks like a sword blade without the hilt - take the journeyman avatar, remove the hilt, fade the blade and voila! You have something close to the untrained avatar.

 

It's a railroad spike! My grandfather had all kinds of antiques around the house...cannon balls, tools -- and railroad spikes. THAT is a railroad spike! :realmad:
