Is it possible to import new tiles/graffix into WorldEd other than the default Arcanum stuff? How?

This has been asked numerous times and the answer is still NO.

    Unless:

    1) The Mod Squad releases some .ART file format related tools (which I doubt)

    2) Troika releases the graphics processing tools they used during the development of the game (possible, but I highly doubt this will happen either)

    ..Correct me if I'm wrong..

On the whole subject of art . . .

On the one hand, I can sympathize with everyone who wants to put in new art . . . be it a few new items or a total conversion.

    But . . .

Why not just try to work with what's there? Make a module. According the poll on this very site . . . more people want to see new single player modules than new items, by a ratio of 2:1.

Make a module. Make a small module. Make a funny module. Just make something.

Get cracking on your story. Plot out a few quests. Work on your module.

Go through AMTUT. Read the WorldEd Manual. Think about your module.

Don't worry about new art. New art can wait. Use existing art. Be creative.

Spend a hour day on your module. Or several hours on the weekend. Think about your story on the bus, or at red lights. Carry a notebook, jot down ideas or snippets of dialog. Stop taking a magazine to the crapper and bring your notebook. Think of another way to finish a quest.

Get the user created tools. Learn the wonders of ScriptEd and Zammy's Dialog Editor (you know, the one with the unfortunate name )

Start small. Make new scripts and dialogs for the existing game. Turn a throw away character into a full-fledged NPC. Add more romance dialog. Read this and see if you can figure out how to add your own new areas to Arcanum. Then tell the rest of us.

Start small. Make a module that can work somewhat with the Arcanum world view. Save the Blade Runner or Star Wars Pre-History or James Bond With Magic or whatever epic total conversion you have in mind for later.

    Work with what's available *now*.

And hey . . . even if you never finish, you'll know that much more about how to make non-cliched, compelling, non-FedEx, well balanced, multi-solution quests for when Neverwinter Nights in released.

Mostly you'll know how hard it is to make even a simple module (without the extra art) interesting.

And maybe . . . just maybe . . . you will complete your module and make everyone happy.

I have to go now but keep the soapbox as my present to you.
