Thanks to having been a good boy all year I am now in possession of the following games: Star Wars: Galtactic Battle Grounds: looks cool for an RTS. You can play wookies! Battle Realms: also looks unusually cool for an RTS. One of the units has a special attack called "Projectile Vomit" Spiderman: arcade, which usually rules out my inept key bashing and lack of joystick port, but I think I'll try to overcome these obstacles for my hero, Spidey. Pool of Radiance: An RPG! Woohoo! And against all expectations it appears to work fine. It didn't even format my hard drive. I was wondering if any TA users have played any of the above games and if so, advice/info would be welcome. I also have Mavis Beacon, now, so all the damn mockery of my typing skills (or lack there of) will shortly be even more unwarranted than it already is. _________________ [ This Message was edited by: Sheriff Fatman on 2001-12-30 07:41 ]
sherrif if that's the pool of radiance from the old c64 days i complement you on your choice, because that was the game that got me involved in rpging many years ago and from memory if you bring a lvl4 hero into your party then attack him during a battle, after it's over you get all his equipment (at some least plate mail i think) that you can keep or sell for a tidy little profit, which can be repeated as many times as you like.
It was Lysa's choice, so she gets the credit. I wasn't going to buy it, because I had been scared off by bug horror stories. I played all those old gold box SSI games to. PoR rocked, as did Curse of the Azure Bonds. I gave up with the later ones - too much of anything can get old.
People who don't care: Jarinor. Wow, that's me, what a coincidence! Hehehe, just kidding, nice collection you got there. I picked up Civ 3 myself - and bloody hell, how does the computer manage to not go bankrupt I want to know?

Apparently it's really good. I haven't played anything from the Wizardry series though, so I can't really comment.
RIGHT, MAVIS! _________________ Voted "World's Scariest Pervert, 2001" by Sheriff Fatman [ This Message was edited by: Milo on 2002-01-01 16:15 ]
I have PoR:RoMD, if that is what you mean(then again I also own PoR the original). The game is disappointing, if you want a good RPG pick up any infinity engine game, they're all good: Baldur's Gate Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast(expansion) Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn: Throne of Bhaal(expansion and final chapter) Icewind Dale Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter(expansion) There are also some good FREE downloadable add-on/ins to those games: BG:ToSC(must have tales of the sword coast) has Dark Side of the Sword Coast(http://www.dsotsc.com) BG2(cannot have throne of bhaal) has The Darkest Day(linked to from dsotsc.com) IWD:HoW has an official add-on(released by Black Isle, must have heart of winter)(http://www.blackisle.com) Baldur's Gate II is the latest of the games, it is the best gameplay wise.
Thanks for the info, Shadowstrider. I already played and finished BG. I started ToSC but got bored through "too much of the same thing" syndrome. Start BG2 but got turned off by the same thing when down in the sewers and not being able to face yet another easy samey combat. Don't get me wrong, the BG engine rocked in its way and the plots were okay. I suppose it just didn't have that little something extra that's needed to keep an old jaded gamer like me in right until the end. Did go for the Icewind Dale series (yet). My brother has them and said they were cool, so they're in there as a back up plan in times of game-drought. PoR (yes, of course this one - I ain't about to dig out my Amiga to play the gold boxed!) seems okay so far (after a about 8 hours play). I hate what they've made as an excuse for an engine and the pointlessly laborious UI, but it's new, it's and RPG and it's based on AD&D, so I'm having a great time at the mo'. Milo, where you been hiding? How's the Civ panning out? Mavis needs to help me, so I will have to get putting some work into that soon.
Well if you want a game that is going to absolutly rock, Neverwinter Nights. It is completly based on 3rd edition D&D, and will be the definitive D&D game, unfortunatly it will not be out untill early 2002(that is if BioWare finds a new publisher with a WotC D&D license.
I've been hiding on some backwater archipelago, cowering in fear of every neighboring civilization, striving vainly to come up with the 20 or so gold they ask me for in the desperate hope that this time... this time, they'll take pity and won't destroy me.
Saw alot of good games on your lists, but I like mine the most... probably cuz it´s mine =o/ The whole Baldurs Gate series, 1&2 with addons. Icewind Dale + addon. Planescape - Torment Arcanum, duhh... Pool of Radience. Heroes of might and magic 3 + addons. Actually, I an go on for a while, but these are the ones I like most.

Yeayea, I can't believe you don't have Heroes of Might and Magic. Next June (ish) HoMM4 comes out. You should probably get it to round your collection out )
