Why can't i become an expert in dodging?

Hi,

i went to Blackroot and to the dodge expert. My dexterity is at 13 and i got 4 points at dodging. However, the expert (Herbeke or something) doesn't want to teach me. He talks about teaching the arts of war, but the only option i have is "Maybe some day you'll teach me, too". Maybe because i'm a magician (50 points magic alignment)?
Excuse me if some references are wrong, i'm playing the german version.
Forgot to mention: i'm of course an apprentice.

i had this problem too..
i dont realy remember what to do but try talking about the war with Tarant...

 

the expert dodge is in stillwater i think he is in a shack on the edge of town

lodi, I believe you're thinking of the Dodge Master. The Dodge Expert is in Blackroot.
Tallie, you may need more DEX, but first try getting the Expert to talk about the war, as RL said.

 

I had the same problem during one game with that master at arms in BlackRoot. Instead of searching out another teacher, I added one more point to skill and he trained me up to Expert. There are some other inconsistencies too, i.e., as a Dwarf with tech/melee/dodge advantage, I still had to waste a skill point and max out Dodge skill for what's-his-name in Stillwater to train me up to Master after completing his quest.
