The dwarf asked if he could tag along. Of course, I had no objections. I couldn't remember if he'd told me his name, so I just waved him along. His little legs were pumping like a retrovator engine I used to own as he tried to keep up with me.

Suddenly, Feldon seemed to pop out of nowhere, and we tumbled in a heap. I narrowly missed shooting myself in the family jewels with the Stunaliser, and remembered the plan I'd had to make it a proper holster.

I couldn't chance a change in the wind causing me to succumb to the eroticoin gas. Feldon already had a disturbing glint in his eyes, one I'd never before seen outside the presence of a lanolin-bearer, so I rushed on without comment. Looking back I saw him and the dwarf stumbling after. Concerned for Feldon's self-control, I didn't feel comfortable with him behind me, so let him overhaul me.

Not far down the Street, Luden emerged from a drain. The stench was a welcome relief from the hint of eroticoin gas, even if Luden's looks hadn't been improved by a trip through the sewers.

He shouted something I missed as he climbed out, and had a concerned expression on his face. Only being able to see the back of Feldon's head at this point, I could only speculate at the cause of Luden's distress.

Andrew and the Gnome were nowhere to be seen, but it looked like our group was re-assembling. We had nothing to worry from the mob for a while, depending on their resistences and how long they could keep ... up ... that kind of activity.

Out of breath, I slowed to a halt near Luden and Feldon. I was really starting to miss the Locomunator.

As the party was beginning to regather, a few pops are heard from the open pothole.

"Haha! Have at thee, foul spreader of disease! This one's for the plague!"

Finally, a black tophat, with a fresh mud-stain hovered just above the lid, followed by the rest of Pentalope.

"Hello there. I hope the angry mob didn't give you too much trouble, did they?" He said, climbing out of the dank hole and dusting himself off.

"They were fine, my friend, no trouble at all. We had a gas and they became much more friendly. I'm sure they'd give you a much warmer reception if you approached them now."

"Well," I declared, glancing around our little group, we have to decide on a course. Do we go with Andrew and search for the fabled scroll, or should we investigate this village near the wheel clan in pursuit of the infamous Slug Riders?

"My vote, is with Feldon, whatever he decides. I owe him one from years back, when he saved me from being trampled to death by a flock of maddened sheep, by use of a mating bleat known only to his tribe. In a way you could say my debt is to his whole tribe, and I'll abide by his decision whether to pursue the Slug Riders or not."

"What say the rest of you?"

    A predicament.

"Well, well... let's see. Do these slug-rider raider dancer types have hoards of things? Hopefully shiny, or otherwise valuable things? I don't like hoards of not so useful things. I learned that on The Great Expedition To The Snowcone Factory Of Unfathomable Doom. In any case, I'll tag along with you, Mister PRAT, at least until I can, ah-ha... get a better look at some of these devices of yours, I'd be willing to ahh, trade schematics, perhaps... we shall see, yes!"

The gnome's little goldish eyes boring into the stunaliser [Not literally, of course.], hidden from the others by his eye gear, save for them zooming and defocusing.

"Mister Pentalope... I like the ring to tha- Err, well, I'll be following Missire PRAT to whom I've not been introduced, so, it's up to him.

Now that I think of it... I haven't really been introduced to any of you, fine fellows of Madam Lil's Bordello Gang."

With that, Pentalope bowed low, [As a gnome can go without touching the ground, anyway.] And swept off his hat, while thinking, an all male bordello gang, that's a first.

"I, am Pentalope Hogswallop The Third, Heir to the baronhood of Derafon, Lord of Castle Quackmeiher and renowed shot of the Boenville Gan- Err... men's club." He recites these titles like things of pride, despite the fact several of them he just made up.

    "Ah, one of them..."

The gnome's eyes narrowed behind the eye-gear and he fiddled with the safety on his long-barreled pistol.

"Your not one of those holier-than-thou technology is a fool's game types, are you?"

"Well, I must say, I might as well stick with the Sheriff. I could definitely learn a lot from him and his technology." I winked at him. "Besides, he'll need me to get his Locomunator back. So where the Sheriff goes, I'll go along too."

The Gnome bowed low and I nearly lost it. The sweet gases were still having an effect on me.
    Maybe.
"Greetings to you, Pentalope. I am Feldon Kane, itinerant sheepherder, Master of Magick, and I'm not bad at Ewe-chre. I'm sure the others would prefer to make their own introductions."
I saw that the Dwarf was still with us, but the gas had drained all thoughts of violence from my soul. I had a choice to make.
The Scroll or the Slug Riders?
I decided to flip a coin.
"Uh, does anyone have a coin? I seem to have...misplaced mine in Madame Lil's.

"A pleasure good Dwarf and Messire Feldon, both."

He handed a coin to the Sheep Mage, which was warm, but thankfully not gooey, though almost. It seemed very shiny like it had come right off mint-machine [Not the refreshing melt in your mouth kind, either.

"A man of chance, I like that!"

"Greeting gnome, I am known as Luden Cole. I seem to have forgotten your name in the rush to get out of Madam Lil's. Hurry up and toss that coin Feldon. That mob will find us soon."

"Ahh, yes! My friend from the sewers. Many greetings, Messire Cole. And, methinks we did enough damage between us all to not have to worry about them for too long. But, I don't like waiting anyway!"

Pentalope was talking a bit too fast, that happened when he waited. Waiting wasn't good for him, no, not really. Shooting things was, oh yes, very goo- Pentalope shook his head to clear it, beginning to pace.

The Sheriff was silent for a change. Well, he had already decided to go with me, so it was all up to Baah-Ha-Mut, the Sheep God, now.
"Call it in the air!" I cried, to no one in particular.

Pentalope resisted the urge to try and shoot the flying shiny coin out of the air.

    "Heads."
He said, fidgeting with the trigger carefully.

The coin plummeted toward the cobblestones.

Meanwhile in a small abandoned building next to the zoological society Rex put little Nina to rest (she spent the day with the "Zoo" Lady and had lots of fun. Rex found it strangely easy to talk the lady into watching Nina while he worked his paper route. Almost like how he got away with stealing that pie when Nina was hungry. Strangely lucky things like that happened to Rex sometimes), at the end of yet another day.

But this day was different from the rest for tomorrow held hope if only he could get through the night! For this day on his way home from his paper route he noticed a man standing in front of what looked to be a bar. The man smiled with a warmth he felt a bit too familar but yet he felt compeled to enter the establishment....

The men inside were all kind to him, and one in particular offered him a sum of money were he to deliver a note to a certain address. He agree not to look at the note and left to check on his sister before venturing across town at night to delever this message. "100 gold just to take this note across town! That with what I have saved will be enough to by Nina a ticket to Blackroot. Aunt Gaylin's telegragh said she be there. She will met Nina...."

As the Sun set Rex's mind wondered what would become of him. He only had enough money for one ticket and Nina had to go he could not afford to keep her, Gaylin could. Besides Nina was a full elf his half sister, Gaylin could better teach her elven ways then any half-elf brother could. No matter how much he cared for her, he had to do what was best. His eyes grew heavy as he drifted off to sleep, his body aura shifted and as he drifted another awoke...

"Verily the boy hath done it! with this next deed I shall be at last able to insure the little one gets the love she needs. Thus the boy and I shall be free to seek my own true freedom..."

The mage which stood in the place of Rex seemed a different being altogether. His dark features enhanced by his shoulder length golden locks of hair. Even though his fully trimed beard implyed age his forest green eyes screamed of both youth and energy.

"Quickly I must be away, for this deed must be done ere morning approach. For only my strength can protect this life force should darkness seek it out.. I... Eros" The strongly built mage looked upon himself with sad eyes. "How can I protect this child's vessel when I myslef am but a fractional mirror of my former glory?... Still I must prevail, only by finding all of the temples and then by leaving the proper scrafices in the correct order.... only then can I be free...." The mind of Eros still wanders as he notes the shadows of half-orcs in the distants outside. His can stun them if he must. "I will not be able to do this alone, nor shall I finish this quest quickly. Of all the alters only the location of a few are commonly known. I need to find a group of adventures that I can guide Rex to join with. His skills as a pickpocket and theif during the day hours should prove useful and the boy is quick with a dagger also if trustworthy then my night magicks should be very helpful. But first we have to get this gold so Nina may get to a place where she can be loved. Yes this will take time, but alas what is the one toy they did leave me to play with, yes I shall play well with this... time." Eros casts a spell of Magic Lock on the door and heads off into the night...
