You need a miracle opperation, I reckon. Why did you think I said to base it on hours logged? :shootme:

Reg, Railroad Tycoon (I) was a near miss for me. It's definitely in the top ten.

Mael, Blade Runner is one of those games, I think should be in there, but for some reason (maybe circumstance) I only played it through twice.

Stop whining about cheaters, Milo. I know you used a hack to get your 85WPM score with Mavis. I read it on a cheat site. In the main screen you type "Teach my arse to type"

If I had to put a list out without combining game versions, it's probably look more like

    - Doomdark's Revenge
    - HOMM2
    - HOMM3
    - Swords of Aragorn
    - Diablo 2

I wish someone would make a new Doomdark's game. I think 1st Person Stratgey has a lot of untapped potential.

What about Deus Ex 2? That game should be so good!

If they chucked a little more interactivity and RPG style stuff in Deus Ex, you'd start to come close to my idea of the perfect game...

Of course, my perfect game is very hard to describe, but it involves total interactivity, being able to use any item in the world however you want, and multiple stats, skills/classes whatever. Pretty much impossible to make of course, but still nice to dream about .

I would expect they worked on the graphci engine alittle more. part 1 was shitty to the max concerning the graphics. Without the open gl patch even I had trouble playing on 800x600. of course after the patch I played at 1600x1200 :hidepc:

If my monitor could handle 1600x1200 then I'd play at that...however, the best it can do is 1024x768, which it does with ease .

Ring Lord, I have no idea what you mean, or what you are referring to.

    In no real order:

    Star Control 2
    Fallout Series
    Civilization 2
    Baldur's Gate Series
    Star Craft or Diablo

(Diablo was much much cooler, and scarier than Diablo 2.)

    Favorites:

    1) Sniper -> Subspace -> Continuum (I can't believe I forgot this one...the name has changed over the years)
    2) Total Annihilation
    3) Gran Turismo 2 & 3 (2 had used cars and NOMAL mode, 3 is more fun now that I'm used to it)
    4) Quake 1 (Multiplayer)
    5) Heroes of Might and Magic 3

    Most Amount of Time Invested:

    1) Sniper -> Subspace -> Continuum
    2) Everquest? (The game is boring as hell, but was addictive at the time...what a waste of a year)
    3) Gran Turismo 2
    4) Gran Turismo 3
    5) Heroes of Might and Magic 3

Note: Amount of time spent on a game doesn't necessarily have much to do with how enjoyable it was. I prefer playing games with others. If we had lists for multiplayer and single player games then my lists would be different

You know...the funny thing about Sniper is that it was initially supposed to just be a test for large-scale internet games. It's no longer listed on Virgin Interactive's site and they no longer host servers, but the game is still around. It's one of those games I don't play for a while and come back to haunt people

*edit* I remembered a couple of games...

Yeah, thanks Otto, I played them to death when LoM3 came out a few years back. I got more mileage out of the Doomdark's ports than I did the actual game I'd had such high hopes for.

I reckon Singleton made the gameplay to diverse and complex - like he tried to have it all in one game. It might have been better if he'd just kept the gameplay like Doomdarks with the extras just extensions of the game (more magic items, better effects, maybe a more sophisticated recruitment system). All that running around in a dungeon seemed completely out of place.

In fact, Midwinter a few years before had been much nearer the mark for me, if he'd not included the need for learning to ski and shoot.

well i believe this is kind of right

    -HOMM 2 and 3 (never played 1)
-baldurs series (not TOB. i so hated that)
    -fallout 1
    -sure and arcanum
-the best ever has too be fallout 2.
maybe arcanum 2 will top it or fallout 3(please).

the likes of syndicate, gaunlet i think it was, u-boat and dam buster(so old) and others i cant remember ruled but i have been infected by the good graphics bug these days.

If you guys want a really good old roleplaying game with an emphasis on gameplay, and not sound or graphics (because this game has either crap or non-existent sound and graphics) then check out Excelsior. Make sure to download the original (pretty small), because Excelsior 2 is really really crap.

What I'd really like is a good simple turn-based strategy that's more about troop placement/movement than about placing buildings.

Like Swords of Argagorn and Doomdarks revenge, where you just recruited/captured cities and moved armies around. HOMM IV will no doubt be pretty spot on, but it'd be good if there were others too.

Oh yes, and I just remembered another big time hogger for me - Mordor. It was a no-thrills dungeon hack, mainly exploiting 95's windowing system more than anything clever. It was great.
