I have learned that magic equipment is more useful to those who are magically inclined. And that it is a percentage depending on the magical aptitude of the character using them. So... How is it possible that Virgil can wear a magic Charmed Chainmal and have a Magick Dagger but one operates at a different Magic percentage than the other? e.g Chainmail at 56% but Dagger only at 54%? Spoiler
They have different magick complexities. The charmed chainmail has a complexity of 25, while the magick dagger: 50. The starting point for all magickal items is receiving 50% of their boost at a neutral 0 aptitude. From that point, the stronger the magick complexity of an item, the greater its potential magickal boost, but also the greater the required aptitute of the user to take full advantage of it. (and also interestingly, the more technological the user would have to be to fully nullify the boost) In your example, Virgil has at the moment a magical aptitude of 4, meaning he's closer to maxing out the full potential of the charmed chainmail (4/25) than he is in the case of the magick dagger (4/50). If those items were in the hands of someone with a magickal aptitude of 25, the charmed chainmail would be used at 100% power, while the magick dagger at around* 75%. (*one could expect exactly 75%, but the game rounds it every 2%, so it would be at 74%) Magick complexity is a hidden item stat, and its value varies depending on the item. Unique items aside though, there are four recurring tiers/classes you'll notice and recognize by the adjective: charmed - 25 magick - 50 mystic - 75 arcane - 100
