    I don't think so. checked the quest walkthrough and it doesn't say. Never heared anyone say they found out elsewher either.

    A thief can find his journal for Appleby. I do not know how the rest of the story line works because I just made it to the BMC with my thief. I never even talked to Bates.

    Just go to world map and click on the co-ordinates West:1308 South: 754 and you'll get to the BMC mines.
