how do you know he is dead Hiipu? when you get to ashbury there is a guy beating a dog, kill him or scare him and the dof is your to take.

well, everytime i get there the dog is already dead. just got him in my new game. Dead dog. with my mage char. dead dog...
You have to get to the dog quick, if you want to see him alive. There's some kind of radius around the event. As soon as you get within a certain distance, the worthless mutt starts taking a beating. Eg. If you walk into the hotel ad have a chat, dog is getting a good kicking out back. Try running straight to the place where you find him as soon as you arrive at Ashbury for the first time. That'll practically guarantee you'll see him alive.
As long as you don't trigger the script, you can spend a bloody month in Ashbury without the dog dying. He is very powerful, very good, but a little low on hitpoints. He's like Dogmeat from Fallout. Although, not as much personality - that statement doesn't make as much sense I realise. It's true though...
Worthless Mutt And he will join you regardless of your charisma/number of followers ratio. I have had this happen twice now. He is a Brute on Steroids. Definatly worth having. I have read elsewhere that the only time you can get him is the first time you go to ashbury. If you go back it is too late. And if you enter the radius that triggers the speech the guy gives about the dog you have a limited time to stop him or the dog is dead. Funny, under normal circumstances, the dog would clean the jerk's clock. But I guess he is already weakened or something.
dog is not the only one that does not count towards your followers thing, Virgil and u familiar dont either and i think there is another one but i forget
