Lockpicks and lockpicking questions

Where can a non-thief character get his hands on a set of lockpicks? I've only seen them on the beginning-of-the-game shopkeeper, and neglected to buy some at the time. Note: I'm playing a Diplo/Tech (gunsmithing and electricity) sort of character. I am level 10 and have thoroughly explored Shrouded Hills and Tarant, and have just arrived in Dernholm. My followers are Virgil, Sogg, and Magnus. This is my first time through the game.

Okay, next question: If/when I find some lockpicks, will I need to get Virgil a set of his own if I want him to pick locks for me, or will he just use mine?

In Tarant, you have a couple of options for getting a set of good (as opposed to "crude") lockpicks. You can either join the Thieves Underground and buy them from the Underground shopkeeper, or you can search the barrel outside of Poone's Flophouse. There's always a set there.

Umm... I don't remember the address off-hand. I think Poone's place is on Low Dervish Road in the warehouse district.

 

Virgil will use your set - so you only need to get 1 set! :smile:
