    I'm not really sure how to say this without being offensive. Therefore, I'm simply going with the following:

    No.
    No, no, no...

    (again, NO!!)

    I approve. Just not in Arcanum. It fits a different, less melancholic steampunk setting.
    In fact, music performed on anything but a string instrument would probably feel off in the context of Arcanum.

    Now, not necessaily fully obeying what I just said in the previous sentence, here are a few pieces of music that kinda remind me of Arcanum.

    The Clockwork Quartet - The Watchmaker's Apprentice

    The Clockwork Quartet - The Doctor's Wife

    Machinarium OST - The Castle

    Planescape Torment OST - Modron Cube

    Some of the songs could fit in, especially in dwarven setting. Singing switched with instrument.

    Oh yeah, I used to love their albums.

    They certainly sound like the quench life chorus.

    That voice (not to mention the chorus) was too much for my headphones. Don't know if it's very 'Arcanum' but very nice none the less.

    The same could be said about praetorian's contribution. While some of it's good (and quite steampunkish) I really don't see it in Arcanum.

    It's simple really, I reckon;
    If it's not made by a classical composer, with great experience and taste and ONLY a string quartet for the main themes, it's safe to say it's not "Arcanumy".

    Ben Houge's work is amazing.
    On that note; cool video of a live performance of Arcanum OST:

    Thanks, found it on Ben Houge's sub-site 'blog'...
    (his website is old and weird, but it's still able to be navigated)
    Those musicians actually have quite a few performances that were recorded.

    I think whatever it is it needs to be pure instrument and have some violins.

    @Ring lord
    That seems the closest fit of them. It seems, I dunno, a bit more up beat the Arcanum normally is, but I hear recognizable Arcanum-y sounds in it.

    Well, it aint string quartet, but it occurred to me that purcell's, Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary would gel with arcanum.

    I particularly like the procession/recession movements, and I think they would suit Qintarra and the death of the Silver Lady.
