what is more important considering your armor: AC or DR?
for eggsample, Dread Armor has high AC but very low DR.
    handy? useless?

DR all the way. From what little testing I have done, AC 95 seems to only halve the chance for the attacker to hit, while DR 95 will reduce the damage to 5% (minimum 1 point). I guess AC 95 would be better against attackers who already do 1 point of damage, but I wouldn't be too concerned with those. Oh, and AC would certainly be better against fire damage, but not better than fire resistance. Except to prevent damage to armour, but that can be repaired.

Yep DR is way better, and max AC is about half chance to hit, usually.

From my AC chart testing melee:

No melee skill vs AC 0 = 25% chance to hit
    vs AC 45 = 20
    vs AC 95 = 14

    3 melee ranks vs AC 0 = 85
    vs AC 45 = 67
    vs AC 95 = 46

    5 melee ranks vs AC 0 = 125
    vs AC 45 = 98
    vs AC 95 = 67

    Also I have written down:
    To Hit = base chance to hit - (AC x 0.5 x 0.01 x base chance to hit) ??
and the ? indicate I was not 100% sure on this.

    thanks for the detailed explanation!
it also gives clue why untrained chars suck so bad at fight.
