Pretty linear game compared to Fallout and Fallout 2 though. You move from one city location to the next in order.

That and I hated the combat system in the game.

Well, to follow the development logic of FO3, the game sold well, so the combat system _must_ be good!

I would agree that the over all story of planescape was linear. But I personally did not feel limited by it. I still had freedom to act the way I wanted. Unlike most other "linear" games, you were not realy on a rail road. It was more like certine events happened in order. But how you reacted to them and the significance of those events was up to the player.

Combat was as good or bad as Baldur's Gate. It was still based on D&D and they did some interesting things with the interface which got mixed reviews.

I would say that I am a little biased towards Chris Avellone. Only because I know the depthes of his creative talent. So I feel that he will do justice to the Fallout Series.

I was playing through FO2 somewhat, god did that game suck man, bugs all over the place... then played FO, hrrm clean no bugs fun, well................. I say that the only people who can do any justice to Fallout are the original team

Fallout 2's bugs was more the fault of bad timing. (trying to push a game out for chrismas holidays) So in a way it was a management fault.

Another issue with FO 2 was that it was designed by committee. (of sorts) It had a change of developers part of the way though it and so sort of became dis-jointed.

If Fallout 3 were going to be led and designed the same way, I would worry. But for the most part this will yet another development team. We won't know how well they do until they do it. However, my nickle is on Avellone to pull it off.

Chris Taylor is also the guy behind Dungeon Siege. That game looks like it has a lot of potential also.

Actually, that's another Chris Taylor. Interplay's Chris Taylor did Fallout 1 and Fallout Tactics, while Gas Powered Games' Chris Taylor did Total Annihilation and is currently doing Dungeon Siege.

    That's right Calis...I sit corrected.

I think that that game has some very interesting implementation concepts in it. Such as the pack mule and being able to send it and a lackey back to town to sell your stuff while your main party keeps adventuring, the ability to use only part of a healing potion to top your health off if you are only down a couple of HPs and then combine partial potions to make a full one and having the ability to drag a box around an area and pick all of the loot up at once instead of having to click on every piece of treasure that is laying on the ground. These are all things that I've never seen in a game before and I feel they could make game play fun. Also, for that style of RPG the screen shots look fantastic.

Calis - good little review. That basically surmises the game in a nutshell. I know dungeon siege will be on my must get list.

Dungeon Siege is, and has always been, on my "Probably don't get, check out some reviews, and maybe try to convince a friend with similar tastes to buy it first so I can get a fair estimation of what it's like" list
