#arcanum IRC - plug

#arcanum IRC is one of the best-kept secrets of the Arcanum fan community, and isn't promoted nearly enough on this page. I thought I'd throw up a news post to let you all know about this IRC chat room. To use it, you need an IRC client such as <A HREF="http://www.mirc.co.uk" target="_blank">mIRC</A> and connect to server irc.gamesnet.net. Then join channel #arcanum. Be sure to drop by, as it's usually a fairly busy place. what happened?

i can't connect to irc.gamesnet.net ... did that server go down in the past? is there anywhere new to talk about games that are included in this forum? like #arcanum?

on any server? ...

i've gone to http://www.gamesnet.net/ and tried connecting to the listed mirrors, but given that the site doesn't appear to have been updated since 2006... well... my guess is that there simply is no more gamesnet on irc anymore?

if that is the case then where do people who post on this forum go when they want to do irc chatting?


I was going to create my own new thread asking this question but... I already created a couple new threads so it seemed better to use the search function first, I guess necroposting is worse than spamming a bunch of new topics, but i don't seem to be able to delete my own previous posts.

 

Think the problem here is this is a 10 year old thread.

 

#hol on irc.coldfront.net is probably where you want to be -- though it is fairly quiet and originally intended for City Nations related stuff.

 

There are still a few of us in the #hol channel. I may try and go see if that Arcanum one still exists, since Jewlarry dug this thread up. >_O

Fairly certain it doesn't, I searched for many moons before joining #HoL.

And the only other arcanum channel I found was deader than #hol is now, so...

 

I've started using IRC again. No guarantees I'm on nightly or anything, but I do use it.

Oh, sorry. The #hol channel is on coldfront, not gamesnet, or whatever it is that's mentioned above.

Much like my bowel movements, I'm aiming to be more regular (in IRC).

Arcanum is old, irc is also old; thus I thought, arcanum players would be still using irc. Heh, I was wrong.

 

It is used sporadically, but none of us are terribly online anymore, seemingly.
