Concerning Thieve's Underground

I'm unwilling to assist Lukan the Witless in destroying the bridge materials, so how else can I join the Thieve's Underground? I think I remember reading that you can become a member by listening to bar gossip, but I've asked the bartenders and all the npcs in the taverns, and eventually they just say they have no new rumors. Nobody refers me to the Thieve's Underground.

 

Nah, that bar gossip line threw me for a while.

One way you can join is to do a quest for Mrs Pettibone in Tarant. She walks around down near the general store. I'll leave it at that, rather than risk spoiling it for you too much.

 

What? I've completed that quest several times and I was never referred to the Thieve's Underground....


Also, where can I find someone to apprentice me in pick pocket? I suppose I have to join the Thieve's Underground?

Once you have completed Mrs Pettibone's quest, there should be a guy in a grey suit standing in the alley next to her house. Talk to him and he'll refer you.
