Geoshitties, err, Geocities doesn't allow direct linking of images from one of their hosted sites. I read there was a way to circumvent this measure but I don't remember what it was. I'll check up on that. [Edit: Well wait a minute now, sometimes it is working for me and sometimes its just a white box with the red X in it. Weird. /Edit] <font size=-1>[ This Message was edited by: villageidiot on 2001-11-19 03:42 ]</font>
Well dmonik... you answeewered your question in your own post... it doesn't work because it's stupid... Also because if I follow that link I cant see the picture... probably you linked it to your harddrive instead of getting it hosted by geocities?
Create a new thread called "Milo Please Help" and point it at this one by cutting and pasting the URL into the post body. Milo knows a lot about sigs, hosting, etc. I'm not so knowledgeable and have never used geocities, but could it be a max connections thing or bandwidth throttling? That might explain why it is sometimes visible and other times not. Either way, you're probably gonna be looking for a new host. Ask Milhouse ... um ... Milo.
... Or you could just e-mail it to me ( r.arts@student.utwente.nl ) and I'll upload it to the Terra Arcanum server. If it's not too big, that is.
alright, http://www.terra-arcanum.com/sigs/Dmonik1.gif If anyone else has trouble with this, lemme know...
I don't think you're a moron, got nothing against you, I just like poking fun at easily confused people. On the other hand Sure you aren't.
Netfirms and Sphosting allows hot linking. Sphosting limits hot linking for JPEG files. There are a few others.
Oops, sorry I missed this. I haven't been around lately. If anyone's still interested, you can get around the stupid Geocities blocking by renaming your file so it has a .txt extension rather than .gif or .jpg. It doesn't work for long, though. They eventually catch on. EDIT - Just for the sake of clarity, let me add that you still have to use the IMG tags. Just enter in the newly renamed file with a .txt extension in between the IMG tags, and it should work. Note that I don't do this, I use the space my ISP gives me. I've read that it works, though. <font size=-1>[ This Message was edited by: Milo on 2001-11-21 21:18 ]</font>
See - I told you he was a good person to ask! Was I right, or was I right? Wellll, okay, he did bugger off for a long stint and have to be severely prompted upon return, but that doesn't make him a complete fuckwit, right?
