I believe the USA have had it for a little while, but Civ 3 is just coming out over here in the UK on Friday. I have it on pre-order, so I'll get as soon as

    I just can't wait.

    Anyone play/played/gonna play it?

    Civ 3 *droooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool*

I played Civs 1 and 2 heaps...in fact, Civ 1 was my first computer game .

I love the amphibious assaults of marines in Civ 2...nuke, then marines in the city!

Oh, and abusing railroads too...railroad your entire empire, then move a unit from one end of the map to the other to re-inforce a city and deny the enemy a victory! Better yet, use their railroads to drop a spy into their best cities...lotsa fun!

    Lucky bastard...

That's really strange, cos I never really made much use of marines or amphibious units. My tactics pretty much relied on Blasting them with Howitzers/Stealth Bombers then moving moving in with Mech Inf.

The railroad just ROCKS, doesn't it? Airports can be pretty cool too. I remember I had this tactic of bashing up a city, moving in a buying a whole airport as soon as I was in. Next day, airlift in a Mech Inf, or even a spy to go subvert some nearby units.

I have read a few reviews/previews and this one looks like it'll have less emphasis on warmongery. I'm wondering whether it'll be as much fun. I'm not a violent person, but the tactical side of things really grips me.

I don't think spies are units anymore. You simply spend cash to spy on your enemies now.

Also I don't recomend warmongering anymore. Your own citizens revolt against you now. Civ3's design rewards palyers for "balancing" their empires.

It looks good, but NO MULTIPLAYER!?!?!

    I'll wait for the patch/sequel/add-on...

    No multiplayer IS disappointing.

The rest is ultra cool, though. My copy arrived Friday morning and I have been playing it since. It's pretty damn hard, even on Warlord level.
