Hello everybody. I apologize in advance if this topic is in the wrong section (I was not 100% sure whether to post this in general or in modding).

I plan to make a custom background for a Vendigroth Scientist (this is a fun/cheat background for myself) wherein the background entails giving/teaching all of the game's Schematics to the character and sets his Technological Aptitude to 100.

Would this be posible to do? And if so, could someone maybe give me a tip or two on where to start?

(also if there is already a background like this available for download somewhere I would appreciate a link and I could just edit the description/name myself afterwards)

Sorry if this question has already been posed before (I searched the forums and did not find anything like it) and thank you to anyone who can help.

Sure. Once you learn how to create your own backgrounds, creating a 100 TA character will be as easy as adding an "aptitude -100" effect to your background's entry in effect.mes.

Only partly. You cannot teach your character schematics with a background. What you can do, however, is place found schematics in the character's inventory. This means that you can create a character knowing up to 29 found schematics (30 if you decide to not give him any money) because so much can fit in his inventory, assuming he has no other items there. That would be about half of all existing found schematics.

This is a fairly decent tutorial for creating custom backgrounds.

This, on the other hand, is a list of protos of found schematics.

Thank you very much for the answers. They have been very helpful and I have had quite a bit of fun messing about with backgrounds and the like :)

On a related note, I figured out the easiest way for me to give myself all Schematics was to undat Arcanum and make a separate module copy where all I did was add every Schematic to the crash site right where the game starts then simply learning them all then copying the save over to the original "Module/Arcanum/Save" folder. So, thats another thing happily done :D
