This is the first, and unfortunately only time I've seen this encounter in the demo. I haven't been able to reproduce it yet, but I'll explain it as best I can remember it. My favored Nietzche Poster Child Technologist Dwarf ran into 2 level 5 or so "Cloaked Figures" and 1 level 10 "Ruffian" who did the talking. Apparently there is a "Molochean Hand" (not sure if I spelled it right, didn't write it down) group that formed 500 years ago with the sole purpose of making sure no one survived the recent blimp crash. I assume this is the group the Elf and Halfing who attack you in this demo are part of, looks like they have a name now, heh.

I found this on the the bank of the 'lower river' area, just can't seem to find it again though, was in a perfectly flat area with no trees and just grass. Of course I can't find the "Greater Boars" that I saw in one encounter that had no graphics for them again either. Oh, and did I mention I was wearing my helmet, didn't have my gun strapped on, and died very fast while Virgil lived on? Wasn't expecting a real fight and I forgot about possibly switching to turn-based mode, heh.

    - Anolis, "Anyway, thought I'd just toss it out there to see if anyone else saw this too."

    - Anolis, "Gah, one little spelling error...I think."

    Anolis -

I've seen that encounter twice now, once each with different characters.
I had both mine on the west bank of the river that runs down through Tarant.

Yeah, it's a bit of a spoiler. Even through the Beta, we never learned the name of the group that's hunting you...

Well, that confirms my suspicions about it being related to that area. Heh, maybe I just need to walk around there some more to get it to show itself again.

Do getting held up and threatened for money by half orc bandits count as a NPC-encounter?

It is a pitty you can´t use the armor from the orcs though. It looks quite "Gladiator".

I have met them and killed them about 50 times.

    They are always easy.

    They are level 5 , 10 and 20 enemies.

They appear most often close to the city of Tarrant.

Am I the only person who didn't go past the river??

(Actually, I did, but found it boring and slow, so I quit)

Maybe I'm just not a Random Encounters person...

Wojit, dont feel bad, I have not crossed the river either. I just can't bring myself to cross it. If I was going to travel all over the country side killing creatures, I would play Diablo II, and if I load up D2 someone please shoot me in the head.

Not only are Tarrant empty, it`s not there at all(as far as I know), as is the case with several locations in the demo.

Well my friends I was walking on blue carpet, black carpet, and red carpet around Tarant for two years (is it me or the year 1885 stays always the same ?). I have met all kinds of creatures including some invisible ones, but for love of God will somebody tell me how to meet that special encounter!!

    There are two ways:

1.Go up the river on the world map as far as you can, then walk a little bit north (in the real time) until you will be above that river. Then you can switch to world map again and voila!

    2. Almost the same but you have to go down to the place where water meets mountains, Then you switch to the world map, small step south and you are free. Then go to the bridge you will see it on the map, you actually have to go step on the bridge and after that the world is yours.

The highest of the molochean hand seems to be a mage. he and his companions are virtually wusses. The big mage summons a skeleton, but that's it. They all died in one hit each.
