Okay, so this is my first go around with modding. I downloaded AMTUT and followed it to a T. Now my problem is that when I tie the dialogue to the Dwarven Smith, save, then try it out in game, nothing happens when I click on him. I'm assuming there are a few possibilities here. I don't know much about computers but I noticed that the ".dlg" file has the ".dlg" in the file name, and its not really a .dlg, but rather a text file. I'm not sure if that would be a problem or how to change it to a .dlg, but other than that I'm completely stuck on why it isn't working.

Might be because your file extension is wrong.

In Windows Explorer, go to Tools -> Folder Options. Open the View tab, and find the "Hide extensions for known file types" entry. Untick it. Then rename your .dlg.txt file to .dlg.

I too am using AMTUT and had the same problem with the txt files trying to mod recently. It took awhile but i managed to work it out by copying the script/delete the file/then pasting and save as 'all files' instead of 'txt.'
Good to see people still around playing this classic game.
I must say i was keen in the beginning to make my own Mod but after seeing how time consuming it is to script it is kind of deterring.
I have plans for my Mod on a grand scale and unless i can match or even come close to the quality of the original i see no point.

Are there any improved ways to script since 2002?
