I've heard from friends, who were very big fans of the game until it was released, that it sucks. I believe them over you.

 

It lacked polish at release for sure. They would have done 6 additional months of testing if they could have afforded to.

Gameplay and skill based pvp are the things Darkfall focused on first and they are adding more sandbox elements over time. A lot of people just didn't "get it" when it comes to understanding what DF is about. For a lot of people, all the mmorpg they have played have been EQ clones and they don't recognize that not all mmorpg are supposed to be the same and there are very good reasons behind the game mechanics that aren't so easily recognized by new players.

For instance, it is a somewhat lengthy process to loot a corpse intentionally so that players can't just loot the entire contents on the fly, it is meant to leave you vulnerable. Arrows take a long time to craft because it keeps people at the workbench for long periods of time so that raiders will have a greater chance of catching them with their pants down.

There are a lot of misconcpetions about Darkfall from the narrow minded perspective of noobs that don't understand the game, its just too bad all these WoW vacationers are taken seriously and many people rely on others to tell them what they would like when Darkfall may or may have not been for them.

I couldn't get any of my RL friends to play, but at least they were willing to admit that the game was too harsh for them rather than blaming the game.

14 day free trial is free. Are you going to let your friends tell you if you would like a certain niche game or not, or are you going to find out for yourself? What have you got to lose?

PROTIP: Learn to read with understanding. I pointed out that you are advertising the game, which is pretty obvious. Good advertising makes people want to play a game, bad advertising makes people want to stay as far from it as possible. It is a fact, a law of nature.

Now, I did not state whether I like you or not - I stated that your advertising sucks. You probably would have realised what I meant by yourself if you would spend your energy on thinking rather than on expressing mindless butthurt whenever someone has the audacity to criticize you.

 

Its the classic 'you're a dick so play this game' strategy, seems to be popular around the southern regions of the US. I also decided to throw the dickwad into the bad translator to see what we would get, apparently:

This makes more sense to me than his marketing plan.

 

This sort of advertising reminds me somehow of those companies, who will call you through the phone (at dinner time) to try to sell you all kinds of stuff, or those travel salesmen, who comes at your door and desperate try to sell you things that you don't even need or want.

 

Those door-to-door salesmen stopped coming after the door broke his fingers on its way shut.

Wish I could do the same here.

 

The only travelling folks we get around here are the Mormons who come visit from time to time.
