Pickpocket, fate point, unable to take item

So i'm attempting to pickpocket the woman in the blue dress in derholm's inn. I'm using a fate point for a critical success since I have no points in pick pocket. When I move the medallion she's wearing to my inventory the inventory window closes and it is not in my inventory. I tried with other things in her inventory that were not equipped like the medallion, still doesn't work. Any ideas?

 

Is the fate point used up nevertheless? Usually the chosen fate option stays highlighted until it has occured.
Since I experienced similar problems with simply dragging items over I recommend you try rightclicking instead of dragging the item, for safety's sake.

 

Alas, yes it is expended. And right clicking doesn't work. I'm immediately taken out of the inventory/pickpocket window and do not have it. : /

 

Maybe I should just cheat using the save game editor, unless u know another non-cheating way?

 

Nevermind. I went back today and tried again and it worked. Ty for attempting to help.

 

A trick I found when pickpocketing objects that are worn by people (I.E. Rings, Medallions) which is harder btw is to have a necklace (emerald necklace or something like that) or ring (silver , fancy or decent gold) in my inventory. I then use my pickpocket skill to put it into the target's inventory. When I try to pick pocket the items I want, they are already unequipped and in the target's inventory since they wear the stuff I placed in their inventory. It's easier to pickpocket the item then. That's what I did in Dernholm to get the Beauty Medallion, since my pickpocket skill was pretty low at the time, I used it instead to put an emerald necklace into the woman's inventory, I tried to pickpocket her again and the beauty medallion was already unequipped making it easier for me to pick it off her without the use of a fate point.

P.S. I also used the same trick for the ring of influence and ring of virility. Hope that helps your pickpocketing.
