    Everyone else: After a week of remodeling Brandybuck yet again, and only making one (1) save per night, then making a back-up copy of the main map each night - the map glitched. ON THE FIRST SAVE!
    Roseborough got whacked this time.

    So - With the thought that I am indeed too short on RAM for what I'm attempting, this project is on hold until I can afford better equipment.
    Maybe a full terabyte of RAM will be enough....

    Holy mother of GOD that's annoying! Poor rroyo. I'm not entirely surprised, though, if I'd been having the same problem I'd have given up long before you did!

    OK, rroyo I fixed my issue, there was a script read error connected to 2 of the npc's, one of the custom portraits was not the right size, fixed it. and now I've got to relink the Wise woman in shrouded hills back to her inventory.

    I do have one question for you, Mrs. Owens' house, did you notice you sealed off her bedroom? The door opens but its only a wall, the windows work but its just funny. Does she serve purpose other than a blood stained on the wood of the house.

    On the errors you mentioned; did you try modifying my hack? This is the first time I've heard of anyone having these problems.

    And which NPCs had the read errors?

    The bedroom door issue is known and would have been fixed on the next release.

    I hope I'm translating this correctly: "Does she serve a purpose other than being someone else to kill?"
    Yeah - but it's a subtle joke. That harridan is Mrs. Owens, right?
    Now you know why the Constable never goes home!

    lol yea, I got bored between 6-10am this morning and went through the scripting and graphics to see what was causing my headaches. I fixed them. If I have anymore issues I'll bring them to you.


    lmao about the constable's wife. Eh, I just enjoy the town off. Killing Gaylin over and over is great.

    Edit:OK found out what was going when I talked to merchants. its the schematics, I can't put into my inventory other it the whole game locks up and crashes.

    couple quick things, 1st off great work on the mod, and I could have sworn i saw this answered somewhere but can not seem to find the answer where and who were the npcs that you added to the game.

    By NPCs I suspect you're talking about the new followers. There's only four at the moment.
    Faithe Tobor is a half-elf gunfighter in Shrouded Hills, Priscilla Penn is human one in Vormantown, Hamfist is a melee ogre in Leahbo, and Wrinko Minna is a halfling archer/thief in Brandybuck.

    Now there are a fair number of HoL regulars who have a NPC counterpart in the hack. The list is on page 21.
    Some of them are easier to find than others...

    Hey; first off, excellent, excellent mod.

    Second, I have a quick question regarding Vormantown: I just finished it, having completed the dwarf and elven quests and killing Oren, and upon talking to Mr. Shackleford afterwards, he still says "I hope you find out what is going on. I fear that a great evil is being done, even as we speak..." Nobody else seems to have anything new to say either, and I was expecting something with a little more... closure. Basically, it just it just seems like the whole thing with Vormen and his son hasn't really come to an end.

    With that in mind, my question is thus: is this normal, or is there something I've missed? An object or something that triggers a different dialogue?

    I'm sorry to say, but when you killed Oren, a flag was supposed to be set that would allow Shackleford to have just a little more dialog. (He's the only one who has anything else to say.)
    This is one of those odd-ball quirks that Arcanum has. Even with the UAP, sometimes something simple gets bypassed.

    Since it did happen, here is the dialog you missed out on:

    while im online, things that I think would be cool to see in the next update would be a warrior who has a high magic competency, and another dog( sorry im a dog person), and the one thing that i liked from car arcanum, he had some backrounds that i thought were cool. now if the thing had worked that would have been way cooler. so far i have visited but not completed about half the new areas great, except that the tempter area tends to lag a bit going in and out. once again awesome work

    Since there was already some mage-type fighters in the game, I hadn't given much thought to adding another one. It was the tech side that was a bit short.

    Another one or two animal followers: I still might. Not too sure about adding another dog, but there is a whole zoo of others.

    The Car-Arcanum backgrounds: Some have already been added (the more sensible ones), the rest will be coming with the next release.

    The lag - Yeah, I noticed that. Nothing I tried seemed to solve the problem so I eventually just accepted it. At least it's not as bad as the one in Tarant.

    quick question does the jaws and bond episode lead anywhere or is it more of an easter egg? For magical melee, i meant like tweaking there magical aptitude without giving them magic( if that makes sense), another just cropped up in my mind how about a half ogre who isnt stupid. finally, before i got to work has anyone looked into fixing the half ogre quest, that ends in a dead end

    1) It's kind of an Easter egg these days.

    2) I see now - someone who has the potential but doesn't use it. It's possible to make one, but I hadn't planned on adding any.

    3) Hmmmmm.... *Makes note.* This one's a maybe.

    4) Yep. Early in this thread it got hashed out and a suitably Arcanumeque solution was put forward.
    I'll need to get considerably better at scriping to make it work though.

    Thanks for the response and for posting the dialogue.

    I thought it seemed kind of odd that he didn't have anything else to say, but I wasn't sure if it was a bug or if I missed an item or something. At least I didn't miss out on too much.

    ah, well thanx for clearing that stuff up, with the melle magic character, was thinking sort of he/she is magical but pure melee so they can use items like arcane,and etc

    hey rroyo, every time i try to learn one of the new schematics, ''Create arrows'' for example, it takes me out of the game and says the Arcanum Stopped Working, why is this? help

    Welcome to the forum, choflo!

    It sounds like you're having the same problem as several others have reported: The Arcanum5.dat is not being read either in whole or in part.

    There's two ways that usually resolve this.
    1) Double-click the Drog'sCleanCache.bat, then start with a save made prior to discovering the problem.
    2) Reinstall the whole thing and start over.

    Sorry to say, but most people have had to resort to the second method.

    Bug report:

    When playing as a stupid character (in my case a HO) it is possible to amass infinite Fate points by talking to mr Vormans lawyer over and over after having completed the quest of slaying Oren.

    I don't know if this applies to all playthroughs or if it just got bugged out in this particular case, but it's worth mentioning.
