You CAN keep Dante and a follower question

Ahh... I remember him. He held the Staff of Xoranth, with that 33 speed. I wonder if it was a bug?

A magickal character holding that + full backstab should wipe anyone, eh? And in temporal and...

 

If I recall correctly, the Dagger of Speed - while it doesn't have any TH bonus nor does it do any fatigue damage - is so fast that an attack with it costs 1 AP, just like a one with the Staff, while its standard damage is higher. This would mean that one wouldn't cause any more destruction with the Staff than with the Dagger. Not to mention how it's impossible to backstab with staves.

 

The Staff of Xoranth doesn't do much damage, though. It's more of a "death of a thousand cuts" kind of thing.

 

I may have missed something. It seems none of you mention Gar, who for me seems to count as a free follower. I can't check my save now because my comp died, but I had Gar, Sogg, Virgil, Magnus and Chukka with a charisma of maybe 15-16, before I got expert persuasion.

Gar is not a free follower, as far as I've ever found. It's why I never really bothered with him. This thread is three weeks old. It would've been better to have started a new thread, and linked to this one.

Gar is free if you're good at persuasion and/or have a high charisma, if I recall.

 

Gar is not free even when the Living One has 20 Charisma and 20/20 Persuasion + a mastery in it.
