Nowadays I have some spare time so I'd like to transcript all the Tarantians to a blog or something. Do you guys maybe know how get those pictures of the newspaper from the game or the texts? Do you think that there would be legal issues because of that? Please help!
I have two of the newpapers written up somewhere... mainly because I was bored, I had Arcanum, and a brand spankin' new notebook. I'm not sure of the legal ramifications though, so I'll hold off until someone who knows what they're talking about posts.
I can't see what the issue with copyright would be - it's doubtful Sierra even gives a crap, but even then as long as you quote sources I couldn't see what they'd do. I'm yet to hear of a lawsuit with this kind of thing anyway, if it's too much (which I very much doubt), it's more of a 'cease and desist' type of thing. Lawsuits cost them money as well, you know.
Is this a Myspace page comments field or a thread on TA? I can't tell. Pathetic. More on topic, I'd love a transcription of all the newspapers to read and enjoy, but am too lazy to do it myself. I'd be surprised if this hasn't already been done somewhere on the internet though. Said transcriptions should always include the tax increase notice though, because that made me laugh every damn time.

It's a plain text file, so any text-editor should do. Though I don't think there are any programs which will show it as anything else than plain text.
The newspaper pictures are stored in one of the font files. Unpack Arcanum1.dat (or 2, can't remember which one it was), and use ArtView to export pictures from the font.

Unfortunately, I don't know how to use it :sad2: I downloaded the dbmaker and undat but don't get it how to extract arcanum1.dat to a folder. I never did any modding so I hope you won't mind educate a newbie. An hour later... Update: I managed to extract Arcanum1.dat with DATBuilder http://www.terra-arcanum.com/amtut/news.htm and then extracted fonts and stuff with ArtView (rroyo mentioned them in one of his older posts http://www.terra-arcanum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=197273&sid=e0a29759d114a2e8861286f58c33f78a thanx again) With all the bitmaps Xz already zipped and the fact that now, thanks to your help, I can extract other things too (like fonts and stuff), my job will be pretty easy. I'll post the link when I'll have a beta ver.
I'd like to arrange the editions in the right way so i have another question: does anybody know how to determine which is the chronological order of texts in the Tarantian? I know some of it depends on the quests you do, but I guess there must be some order of appearance.
The generic texts are either cycled through from lowest to highest, or selected at random, I'm not sure which procedure is used. The quest-specific are just exactly that. Their order depend on what order you do the quests in. So there probably is no important order of appearance.
