re: plus items A lot of the magic smithys have a Sword of Defense for sale; if I remember correctly it gives you +1 strength and constitution. Then again, it's been a while since I've been there, because my char is a pure techie who gets run out of any magical shop.
re: plus items Okay, I'm dumb. I completely forgot to mention this even though I've made one for each of my followers. A Charged Ring (second level Electric skill) will give you +2 dexterity.
Caladon Crusading Chain gives +1 to str, dex, con,& beauty Arcane Staff gives 80 mana (effectivly fatigue) Gloves of Speed or somesuch give +2 to dex enchanted war boots give a + to speed....4 perhaps?
For a while my elven warrior, Ki'lara D'vir was using an axe with +1 to each of con and str. She's also wearing 2 charged rings, though they seem to only be adding +1 each to Dex, and don't even list that when I look at them. Anyone have any ideas about that? Alex
Yeah, I know why it's happening - you're a mage, and they are technological items. If I'm not mistaken, you have a "bonus" chance of critical errors (highlight the ring, it should say something like "aptitude adj to critical error +x%"). Because you're a mage, technological items don't work as well on you. Try the gloves of dexterity (elven trader on docks in Ashbury) or the spell, Agility of Fire (level 1 fire tree). Gloves are +2 dex, spell is +4 dex.
As well - magick goods do not work, being weared by tech men. I found out, that a sword with a lot of magickally improved stats is much worse weapon in the hands of Magnus(for example), than a non-magick weapon. But, in the other way, the "Adj to critical failure" parameter lowers with the higher tech aptitude. In v.1070 you can see the parameters of goods/weapons/armor adjusted to wearer - a good way to see the real effectivness of enchantment of tech improvement.
By the way, Charisma is raised by the Ring of Influence (Tarantian bar, steal from gnome) - Be + Ch !! The Necklace of Queen $%$%$ (cant't recall that elf name) - steal from Caladon museum, quest item for Undeground. Rises Be and maybe Ch (don't remember). The Statue of Geshtiana, quest item in Stillwater. While wearing this piece of rock with you Be (and Ch ??) is risen.
One more thing - Necklace of N'tala. Good for anyone, but GREAT for Elves. Can be stolen from the Elf in Stillwater, the one who gives you location of Quintara. As far as I remember - (+1 St, +1 Cn, +2 Dx) or smth. like..
Thanks Jarinor! I should have though of that myself! She's not really a mage, though her tech aptitude isn't as high as it would be with other character because of her starting elvish magic aptitude. So, hopefully, as her tech raises, the rings get better. She does also have a set of the gloves, now, too, as does Virgil. Alex
i'm not sure, but do helms of strength add strength? for prowling there is a ring worn by this halfling in stillwater +.5 i think also if you're a magic person and you're not doing the hagglng master quest, you can pickpocket his ring to add (i think 2-3) in CH
