Seems like everyone has this as common knowledge but how do I activate this. I only want to change a name within a save game. I really do not like to cheat as this has killed my enjoyment of several games in the past. These days I feel even changing the difficulty level is a cheat! I want to change the name because my grandson wants the same treasure as me at the crash site. The only differance is the name given. ( Has anyone figured that one out yet?) Please be simple with me and not assume I know even the most basic information.
The name is one of many variables that affect the contents of treasure chests. You can not reliably cause certain items to spawn simply by giving a character a certain name.
I've tried the same character more than 10 times with the same name and have gotten the exact same stach every time, a nice one. Changed the name and nothing but trash, most always. With all else equal, the name decides (as far as I've seen).
What's the name? It'd be interesting if we could duplicate it. It would bring into mind the possibility of cracking their algorithm.
