I don't want to spoil too much for you - so:
Regular teleportation is a spell you learn or you can use scrolls - assuming your character isn't an idiot. +5 or better Int.

The variation - it's a way for you to return to a spot anywhere on the main map. There's two globes that go into your use boxes. Click the Set one to designate a return point and when you're ready, click the other one to return to that point.
Really useful for salvaging dead followers after a random encounter if you are lacking a resurrection potion or the spell. Set the location, jump to a town where you can get a potion in a hurry, then click! you're back to where you were.
(An extra teleport scroll comes in handy for this trick to work....)

Malachi Rench was bruied in the graveyard. The place you pick the gem is his grave.

 

Yes, but nothing says he couldn't leave the grave and return to his castle after becoming a lich.

He won't. Virgil's morality is as flexible as your own. If you decide to sell your soul to Satan, Virgil will be happy to be pulled down and become evil as well.

Awesome? How? Doesn't he spend all his time biting at you for attacking random people as in Negative Reaction? Or maybe I'm recalling it wrong.

Btw, anyone knows what that symbol is? It's completely stuck on Virgil, no matter what I do: I took off all his equipment, even rested for a few days but... it's still there!

Sad to say that it could well be permanent, same thing happened to Raven in my last game and wouldn't go away...

To clear the situation for you without spoiling too much, kashin, I'll just say that the evil make Virgil... change.

As for the "curse", that is the graphical effect of a harmful spell from the Temporal College (Congeal Time to be exact) being cast upon him, halving his speed in effect. Not sure how did it become permanent, though. I believe it could happen somehow in the pre-UAP game if some meta spells were involved, due to a certain bug. What version of Arcanum are you playing?

Pre-UAP? Mmm... well, I'm playing with latest official patch installed(1.0.7.4?) and then... with Rroyo's WIP 6.0 installed(which contains one of Droog's patch vers).

 

I was playing the UAP when it happened to me, can't remember how it started

 

Hmmm... btw, I'm trying to find out who killed Misk. I already found the passport and spoke to the butler, which enraged him enough to tell me to "get out of the house".

So, what do I do now? Go to Roseborough?

I assume what you had in mind was the "Find Out Who Disclosed Information On Horror Among The Dark Elves" quest.

Lillian Misk asks you to find out who disclosed the information concerning the ownership of “Horror Among The Dark Elves”.

Talking with Wesley the butler and the Brinda the Maid yields no positive results. Those with a keen eye will notice Wesley’s passport under the couch. This leads you a his home. Searching his home yields an incriminating note to Wesley from Elmer Burbuttom. If you speak with Wesley again, he clams up and refuses to say anything.

To find Elmer Burbottom, you must travel back to Tarant and look him up in the Hall of Records. You find his address as 14 Trellis way, Ashbury.

Travelling there, you find him dying after being attacked by a mysterious mage. He has been posing as Kendrick Wales as he thought it a better name to write a book. With his dying breath, he confirms that Wesley was indeed the culprit.

Returning to Caladon, you talk to Lillian and find that Wesley has now also been murdered. Case closed!

Note – more charismatic and attractive characters can “comfort” Lillian in her grief.

 

Yes, I'd actually read the walkthrough and travelled all the way back to the Hall of Records but now I recall, for some darn fangled reason, I was unable to locate that person's record. I think I threw the passport into a drawer... @#$@#$. Oh great.
