The Sierra Gateway: a proposal

Don't do it. It's a trap. Once it's clear that you've come to the exchange with the goods, those fuckers will come out of the walls with machine guns.

 

I know Sierra and Troika are related, but they aren't really the same thing. I'm not really for this at all.

There are enough trashy webrings and useless associations out there. I think TA has legs enough to stand up on it's own, so I don't really get what we'd get out of this.

 

I still wonder what the point of it would be. Drive more people to this site? To other sites?

 

you know this may also have a off hand effect on the creation of Arcanum 2 being that with new intrest in the game serria may (mind you this is way off handed ) take another look at the game.

 

really? i would think that it would spart atleast some intrest.

 

The idea is to make it easier for people who might have an interest in Arcanum to find us, and possibly encourage a few new people to try the game. There is nothing wrong with this - on the contrary, it's a very good thing. If nothing else, we might get some fresh blood.

 

You're right. All those people who frequent the Arcanum forum on Sierra.com will make the move here, meaning that more people will be interested in Arcan- oh shit, wait.

 

I wouldn't think that the Sierra Gateway may be a motivation for a publisher to take on Arcanum 2. That's a bit far fetched. But i wouldn't call the Gateway "another trashy webring" or "useless association" either.

The admins of the member sites are all longterm members of the official forums, have all been Sierra fans for at least a decade and have proven over and over again how dedicated they really are to the titles they cover or Sierra games in general. A cooperation between such fans can hardly be crappy.

TA surely has the legs to stand on its own, i have no doubt about that, but why not allow direct access to a fast-growing Sierra community if TA and the Gateway can only gain with it?

 

I suggest a unilateral arrangement. They link to us, we do nothing, everybody wins.

Maybe they should be nice, and attach a warning? "Danger! Clicking this link will take you to Terra-Arcanum, where they already hate you! Click the 'Flee' button to escape".

To be honest, it's mainly the general Discussion area that are dangerous. If you go to any other area and don't grave dig, you should be fine.
