What do I do with my time NOW?

So obviously, I'm playing Arcanum. In fact, I'm nearly finished, for the first time (I got it years ago, when I was too young to care about a game so in-depth!). I've been playing it on my mom's super crappy laptop, which has gone and DIED.

At least the battery's died, and the cord that charges it refuses to connect to the laptop. I kept trying when it had some power left in it, but nothing happened when I plugged it in. So now the laptop is dead, I have no idea how to fix this, and I am Arcanum-less. I literally just went to the Void; I don't want to install it on my even-crappier desktop. Can someone please point out the fairness of this? :/

What am I supposed to do all night now? SLEEP?!

1. Try a different charger.
2. Try a different battery, if they're even made anymore.
3. Get an adapter and put the laptops hard drive into a desktop.

As for the laptop, the charger fits, I've used it many times before. It's just decided to stop connecting. I'm not sure how to explain it, I've had the same problem with my iPod, which I connected to a set of old computer speakers -- worked perfectly for awhile, but now I have to twist and turn the cord in order to hear the music properly.

Just like the laptop -- worked perfectly, then I had to fiddle with it for a bit to make it work, now it just ... doesn't work at all. I guess I can try buying another charger. :/
