    It would be Biden.

That's one reason a lot of people voted Obama. McCain had a 1 in 4 chance of dying his first year in office which would have put Palin as president and she scares me... a lot.

You and me both, magikot. A lot of politcal observers believe she only got on the ticket as a way of satisfying the religious right. Whelp, that didn't work!

That Palin woman is an idiot, better to say a creepy idiot.

Just keep the black guy alive long enough and you'll be fine. So will the rest of the world.

If you're going to randomly bandwagon on political hate, at least get your facts straight first.

I'm not American, but I'm really glad Obama won. I'm a little bit afraid for him, but I strongly dislike McCain. Even more, Palin.

A friend of mine lives in Missouri, apparently a lot of people she knows were bitching about Obama being president & saying they were "moving to Canada". Are people really that stupid? We're all Obama supporters!

Anyway, people have put a lot of faith into Obama. Hope he lives up to it. Hope the world doesn't end before we find out if he does.

The GOP pressured McCain into placing Palin (a complete unknown at the time) as his VP over the front runner, my former state's governor Mitt Romney. They did this because when Obama beat Hilary the GOP thought they could grab female independent and democrat votes from the dems because they thought people were only voting for Hilary because she was a woman. While a small number of people did vote for her because of this, the majority of people voting for her did so because of her political agenda.

And you are also correct on the "satisfying the religious right" part.

I'mn't an Obama whore, like most people I know, but this remark is one of the reasons why I'm glad that McCain didn't win.

You forgot about me and Vorak, pal.

We had a once in a lifetime opportunity to get at least four years with fake posters of hot MILFS and I blame the American people for blowing it!

I must say, it gave me hope for the survival of democracy when the people of California overturned the decision of the judiciary and banned same-sex marriage with a constitutional amendment. It's high time the judges learned that the gavel is not a tool of legislation.

Which makes no god damned sense to me.

California has legalized marijuana, has the fucking Terminator for governor, is the home of the porn industry which features gay and lesbian sex ALL THE DAMN TIME, yet same sex marriage is now illegal... o_O??

"Fucking socialistic government. I'm going to move to Canada."

Considering Canada is generally more left wing than Obama, this lines makes me lol in so many ways. Like, are they going to move to Canada once Obama introduces socialized health care?

Also, I've been saying for ages that Barack Obama's foreign policy would be bulletproof (literally!) because of 24. 24 proved to us that the black president is always better at dealing with terrorism than the white president. Of the white presidents on that show, one was killed on Air Force One, and another actually WAS a terrorist.

Although, I think Arthgon was referring to Biden's comments,Piper, and not the impending terrorist threat. :p

The court was presented with the question of whether the law passed by the legislative body of California was in line with the constitution, which is not just their right, but their job...and they arrived at the decision that under the Californian constitution as it stood, banning gay marriage was illegal. This is one of the many checks and balances that our government is so well touted for.

Now, of course, the people have passed an amendment to their constitution, so that should be the end of that.

Well, Grakelin, I was just thinking if we were going to pushed to the brink of nuclear holocaust three times.... *la-la-la*

The trouble with marriage is that it is a legal recognition of a wedded couple, and all the legal benefits that come with it. Not only do the gays wish to be married in the legal sense, it's the monogamous sense as well, a recognition of love etc. Whoever decides to legalise it has to be VERY careful in the wording of it - I'm sure that Canada has worded it correctly.

I don't really see the issue with letting them get married. It's not like they effect anybody else by being married.

Exactly! But the issue is when they decide to have/get kids. Everyone's going on about the traditional family structure, etc, but kids from a gay marriage are more likely to have the two stable parents stay together, rather than being part of a messy divorce.

As long as the kid has one masculine role - the breadwinner, the disciplinarian, etc - and one feminine role - the nurturer, the teacher, etc - I'm perfectly happy with it. They may not have the same understanding of sex or gender per se, but with a good foundation in gender roles, they should be okay.

If not, I'll just be keeping an eye on them, like a social experiment.
