    Uuuhhh, Houston.....

    Winrar says: "! C:\New Folder\Portrait_V2.zip: The archive is either in unknown format or damaged"

    Winzip says: "Cannot open file. It does not appear to be a valid archive."

    Three separate downloads gave me the same messages.

    Yup, I can confirm the file being defective or at least not standard enough. I've managed to read the file list and some archive data with ArcView (meaning this is the file and it is a zip archive), but that's it - no program is willing to open it, not even to offer repairs.

    Lovely work, but there seems to be a problem with installation. I placed the folder to C:\Sierra\Arcanum\data\portrait but the portraits don't show up in new character creation. Any suggestions?

    Cruist: Try renaming userport.mes to gameport.mes. Should be in the Arcanum\data\portrait folder.

    Aside: Watch out for rolling heads.

    I did rename it but it still doesn't work. I have the official patch plus the unofficial patch plus high res. Am I doing something wrong?

    I've never encountered problems using custom portraits, so I'm not sure. All I can advise is to make sure the portrait files and .mes file are all in the Arcanum\data\portrait folder. Someone else may be able to help, but that someone else may also want to go into the fact that you dug up an old thread.

    But...at least your post was relevant.

    To be quite honest, I'm not sure about this. I don't see the point in the guy creating another thread about these portraits when there's one already there, where from the things are actually linked.

    It'd be just another soon-to-die thread. Shouldn't threads like this one be exempt from the gravedigging issue?
