What were everyone's favorites and such about it, and did any of you ever play Titan's quest? I re-installed D2+LoD earlier, and made 5 characters (barbarian, necro, sorcereress, paladin, and assassin), and am going to beat the game with each of them. I'm working on the necro at the moment, and did I mention I hate druids?

Despite my overall preference for spellcasters in most games, in Diablo 2 my #1 choice is the Barbarian. Frenzy and axes, that's all you need for some serious speed-devil fun, at least in PvM.

I tried Titan's Quest for like 15 minutes on a friend's computer, so I can't say much about it. Seemed ok though.

I played TQ when I was in Iraq. Basically Diablo in a Greek mythology setting. I really liked it, but I didn't have anyone to play MP with, so it got old fairly quickly.

I currently have two characters on Open Battlenet. Necro with heavy focus in skeletal mages, skeleton mastery, blood golem, and resurrect. And Druid with all points in wolf form, lycanthropy, and the rage skills.

I had med-high level assassin specializing in martial arts, shadow clone, and shurikens, but that fizzled out soon after I realized how boring it was playing a class that could only benefit from one weapon type. Claws are really boring weapons, even socketed ones. I suppose most decent assassin builds, though, probably don't rely much on their melee attacks anyway. Mine could literally tear a hole through an entire jungle of flayers with her shuriken skill, it was so high. But still, it was a "meh" experience.

I actually prefer TQ to D2, but the nostalgia involved just makes the experience amazing. TQ is much better in multiplayer. Get a couple friends and play a LAN game?

The TQ multiplayer I tried was so buggy and shitty I quickly lost interest.

The game itself was alright, if only very repetitive.

    Aren't all hack'n'slashers rather repetitive?

True, but for some reason Diablo II made me forget that and TQ only reminded me of it.

Simply goes to show that the people at Blizzard know what they're doing. They have a knack for getting things like gameplay and atmosphere right, and once you have that, you can easily get away even with repetitive clickfests. Their games also have an outstanding ability to stand the test of time. Warcraft 2 was released in 1995, and it still beats the crap out of many modern RTS's.

What I respect about Blizzard is their dedication to quality. Since 1995, they have released only five games (Warcraft 2, Diablo 1 + 2, Starcraft and WoW). These guys aren't just spamming titles for the hell of it, they make sure that the end product is so damn good they'll collect revenues a decade post release.

This is why I'll be wagging my tail like a young dog thrown into a pit with a thousand estrous bitches when Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 are relased. With Boyarsky being lead designer for D3 and all, it simply can't fail.

    Agreed.

Not to mention the RPG aspect of the game they are working on.

It's cool that they are trying to implement some more RPG-ish elements to the game, but in all honesty, this is Diablo we're talking about. In all likelihood, it will be to the RPG genre what Diet is to real Coke.

Diablo is obviously the work of the devil; only a being reminiscent of divine power could have created such perfection. As Adonai, I declare Blizzard to be in league with Lucifer for this infringement on My ability. Besides, the name is a dead give-away, is it not?

Explain then how come you win the game by destroying your adversaries?

I am so, so tired of your vapid oral ejaculate. I swear to the real god, I think that if I was to see you in real life, you'd be fellating yourself and patting yourself on the back at the same time.

Mmm...strange...I thought that you did not want to use computers, but you keep on using it. Also I think that the saying "Beware of the false prophets" suits you more...god.

Not all with an item system as deep as Diablo's and a dedicated dev team that doesn't abandon the title just because it's a year or more old.

I like the atmosphere of Diablo and Diablo 2, and the gameplay is solid...however, I just never seem to get anywhere. I'll put something together as a character, do some killing for 10 or 20 minutes, and then decide I want to try something else.

Ironically, I've started playing TQ since making this thread. Of the two, I like the Titan Quest system better. The two "basic" characters, and then picking two different topics to specialize in. Diablo 2 holds a place in my heart, don't get me wrong. I just love the style and beauty of Titan's Quest. What do you guys think of Dungeon Siege? I personally am a fan of it, but from what I've heard, I'm sufficiently the only one.

    Hehehe...chicken gun.

I really liked Dungeon siege when it came out, but I hadn't played the Diablo series at that point, and once I did, the simplified systems of DS sort of put me off it. I like the graphics, and the seamless world loading, but the set order of environments and enemies gets boring on repeat playthroughs. Also the plot was meh at best. The Yesterhaven mod was better than the main story.

I still fool around with my skeleton evey now and then in solo multiplay, though. And the loot naming has given me some laughs.

I miss multiplayer. I beat the campaign once, but got REALLY heavily into the multiplayer. It was an absolute blast. A majority of the people I ran into were fun gamers (as opposed to my multiplayer experiences with D2).
