What's your favorite type of character to play in the demo? Most succesful? Least succesful? Goofiest? Strongest? etc.

My dwarf melee/tech character was my favorite.

    Inferno Hammer!

And I made an electric light.

So far I like my Halfling, Born under a Sign, Gunslinger. The critical hits are beautiful. One thing I've noticed though is that it's very hard not to generalize at least a little in the beginning. It's possible to be a non-fighting diplomat, but a point of melee is a must for most starting characters IMNSHO.

My Favorite Character though the demo is a toss up between my Half-Elf Anachist (Expolivses and throwing) and my Dwarf Thief (Backstabing for 63 Points of damage 8*)

Unfortunately, the demo does not give a good impression how a diplomat will play. Sure you can bluff your way across the bridge, but it takes a while before you can get your diplomat to a point where wolves are not gnawing at your leg. 8*) I was using a Half-Orc with Miricle opperation. So physical stats are weak, I am lucky to do a point or two of damage each round.

Right now I am working on the Half-Ogre "Kung Fu" Master. Using Magic to boost he fist combat (Morph Hands, the various Stat boosting spells.) The trick will be in getting INT to sustain many spells.

Oddly enough (and I mean that since it's atypical for me in a CRPG), I've enjoyed /every/ character I've played so far!

My pure mage had the toughest time getting started, since I had no combat skills. Once I turned the corner, though (around lvl 15), he was probably my most powerful, deadly character.

As Gus mentioned, my Diplos were a bit frustrated by the lack of quests and NPCs they could talk their way through.

Jim Plunkett will make a return in the Final. He's too much fun.

I decided to not even try a diplomat in the demo. Well, at least not until I've exhausted every other option I can think of. Realizing the limitations the demo put on experienceing that type of character prompted me to wait.

My most successful, but fairly dull character has been a 1/2 elf 'child of a hero' building up melee and various spell colleges, mostly temporal and fire. He's backed by Virgil and Sogg and dishes out a lot of damage.

Most fun is my dwarf techie. Just took him back to SH to restock and make some cash. He and Virgil now have matching Eyegear (over 1000 coin profit means I've been haunting Ristezze's and Slim's) and Dwarven Gauntlets. I've spent 0 points in the combat skills, but technology really has compensated for shortfall. DX=7 augmented with two charged rings+balanced sword means damage good & plenty. Eyegear's got my PR up to 11 so I'll probably start using the Fine Revolver I built.

BTW has anyone used poison in the game? I'm curious to see how Troika implemented its use after whipping up a batch.

The demos not out in England yet till next week ( cant afford 12 hour downloads!)
In the fallout series , I most enjoyed playing as a diplomat type character , so I'll probably try that first when the game comes out.
Its a pity there wont be any female characters in the demo... For some reason, everytime I try to play as a male character, I invariably end up shooting people!( must be all that cyber testosterone!.....lol)

thats perhaps because we men are better at physical actions than women..

you try to talk your way through it, sure, you can.. but at some point, its gonna get violent. have to be tough and defend yourself, for in the end, you cant rely nor trust anyone. heck, thats just like life.

remember, "actions speak louder than words.."

I think I enjoyed playing my Dwarven Tech (sick childhood) and Elven Mage (only child) most, but is was fun to play the stupid Half Ogre (run away with circus) even though the dialogs was horrible (even if you are stupid you should have an intimidation factor with Str 20).

I usualy likes to play diplomat characters, but the demo was not wery good at giving them a good experiance since there was very few diplomat quests. Well, I guess I have to wait for the real game for that.
