Anyone know how this thing works? The explosion effect occurs very unpredictably (usually at the least convenient moment possible). It seems to explode most of the time whenever I kill a creature with the weapon damage, but aside from that I can't see any predictable pattern. Is this a bug or a feature? Can anyone shed any light on the matter?
I've also found it useless and not worth the components, so it's not just you. Generally, there are really few guns in the game that can actually be considered worth using, most actually performing worse then the fine revolver. The gun you make from the ancient gun chasis and mithril is kinda cool, but also quite useless.
The Hand Cannon? Droch's Warbringer? The Tesla Gun? That paralyzer thingimajjig? The Blade Launcher? Those are all mighty fine weapons, IIRC.
Hand Cannon is awesome! So is Drochs! The Tranquilizer Gun is useful...but its horribly slow, and you won't get many attacks out of it. Now if for some reason a "smaller version" was made, that could fire say 3-5 shots...then you'd have something. Acid Gun is the same case...but only relaly any good against anyone wearing armor..and if their armor is THAT good....than sure you'd want to STEAL/LOOT it rather than destroy it. Again, a smaller version could be useful to take out a few doors and other impediments.
Yeah, but then is the wide selection of the stuff the gunsmiths have for sale, and most stuff made from schematics. And the flame thrower.
Even if the flame thrower isn't the most powerful gun in the game, it's still one of the most fun to use. Bronwyck's and the tesla gun too.
That's certainly true. The "friendly-fire" effect is an added bonus. I was more asking if anyone knows whether the explosion effect is completely random or if there's some kind of pattern behind it. Is there anything in the code to suggest one way or the other (for those so inclined)? I love the flamethrower. It just looks so cool. But it is underpowered for something that you (usually) get late in the game. That's why I generally edit the hell out of it to make it do implausible amounts of fire damage.
