I want to play with a technology character this time but I'm not sure if I should choose dwarves. Are there any disadvantages for getting quests? Some poeple don't like dwarves so I'm afraid they won't give me their quests. Would it be wiser to choose human?
No real disadvantages that I could think of, no. Human is always a solid choice of course, but if you like playing bearded little runts you should definitely go dwarf.
No, don't worry. You might be disliked by a few people, but this won't really prevent you from doing any quests. Anyway, you should go with whatever character you really want to play above all else.
Thank you guys! I'm in Tarrant with my little fellow now. Everything seems fine so far. Except the technology guy in Geofrey's Gadgetry (Tarant) is lost. He doesn't show up in his store. Duh.. By the way should I focus on melee or firearms or both? I don't remember good enough firearms in the game. I'm using a repeter rifle now and it does good for now. But how is it going to be when I come across golems?
Having a few points in melee never hurts for a gunslinger. It's good to have a backup should you run out of bullets/charges.
It appears that the human male art files are messed up. Maybe someone could supply them (along with instructions on where to put them) ? It's at least worth a try IMO. Actually, that's what molotov cocktails are for - and grenades in general, should one choose to invest in explosives. BTW, it isn't initially obvious that to have the explosives skill needed for making bullets, its enough to buy an explosives manual at the university in Tarant - altough explosives are so much fun for a technologist, I can't see why not to learn them.
Thank you guys! I do like explosives but they damage your armour in close combat. Now I'm level 21. I didn't kill much so it's been hard to level up. -Now I'm in the Tarant sewers for some xp. I found a bandit base underground and they attack me on sight. Should I kill them all or are they affiliated with a quest? -I'm supposed to find a lucky medallion of some sort for the thieves quest. but I can't find the man anywhere! Where should I look? -Why can't I enter the Boil? -Should I head to Black Mountain Clan now or should I visit Ashbury and leel up some more? -I'm still keeping the camera and Preston's passpot. Will I need them in the future? Or should I get rid of them? -If I remember right, there was a very low level cap in this game. What's the top level? Is there a way to get stronger?
Do they ? Unless it was fixed in Drog's patch (you're using the UAP, right?), they don't damage armor, at least most of them don't. And they certianly don't damage your own armor. At least the molotovs don't, you can throw them at your feet and they will only hurt the enemies next to you. I'm not sure about followers. I've never found out, even though most of my playthroughs were pretty thorough. I think they're just a bunch of bandits guarding their hideout. They're useful for the gear they carry, but that's that. Isn't it explained in the quest log ? Spoiler maybe you should check the _cheap_ hotel in tarant, at night. Someone there might happen to be wearing something intersting around his neck. Because you're not tough enough, I guess. AFAIK the thugs at the entrence are just there so you can kill them and take their stuff. They won't bother you if you level up a bit. Depands on the kind of charachter you're making, a pure melee brawler might make it through the mines early, while a technologist would better gear up a bit and learn some tricks before going there. It's generally a matter of dealing with the ore golems, so if you can get through the ancient maze, you'll be fine in BMC. I'm not sure about the passport, but something as exotic as a camera might fetch a good price, if sold at a right place. Spoiler There's also a certian individual living in Arcanum who constructs airplanes, he might be interested in the footage in the camera. lvl 50 or 55 I think, but that's quite a high level actually. By lvl 35 you should have a decent character already, I rarely hit 45 before the end of the game. There's a hack that supposed to up the level cap to 127, but generally, you simply can't have everything.
Perfect explanations Bob, thank you very much. -I'm using the 1.0.74 patch. Molotov cocktails damage my armor and health. -I didn't know I was supposed to look for the necklace at night. I'll try it now. -I think the plane building fellow was in Caladon? My memory is rusted I'll keep the camera.
My memmory must be worse then I expected. Still, I recall them being worth all the trouble they caused - mostly due to the scatter effect when thrown into a group of enemies.
Now to the Black Mountain.. Only problem I have is that I can't heal myself. There is not enough plants to make healing salve. Should I give points to heal skill?
If you don't have anyone with heal skill inyour party (make sure you check) then spending a point or two on it can't hurt...but you'll probablyhave to hit a few towns in order to amass a hefty amount of bandages...Generak stores and Herbology shops usually sell 1-3.
i c....If u can't heal yourself, then it means that you must use another tactics.(you must have followers to do this)Try this: 1.Let a monster(s) follow you 2.Run around And at the same time, when you run around your follower(s) will kill the creature(s). And you don't need healing . WARNING!Don't run in little circles, espescially around your followers.Cuz if u do that and monster tries to hit you(cuz u were close enough) and even if it misses, it doesn't try to hit you anymore, but it is going to attack your followers and then you propably need healing.So...be careful
I use that tactic with golems It works great with my sniper rifle. Step away a few meters, shoot and repeat. But I hate it when my followers attack them. They damage their weapons or harm themselves I always make sure they have free hands when dealing with golems. And I also hate it that Virgil still doesn't understand that magic healing won't work on a tech character Maybe I need to hit him in the head a few times! I took educator background so I only have one follower slot. I don't think charisma is worth spending character points. Maybe later when I feel I'm settled..
Wander around in the wilderness (on the plains, not in the mountains and ice), using the world map. Every time you stop, there's a chance that you will find kadura stem and ginka root at the location. So just use tiny journies on the world map, and before long you'll have enough healing salves for an extended trip into the dungeon.
Bandages. B-a-n-d-a-g-e-s. They are for sale at General Stores and from Herbalists. Give lots of bandages to Virgil and Virgil will heal you. Okay? One more time: bandages. B-a-n-d-a-g-e-s. Do it.
Or use a throwing character...I believe throwing weapons don't take damage when they hit golems if memory serves.
