Welcome to the forum, Cbulls13! To answer your question, yes it does. So get the game and enjoy the adventures.
Graphics is not everything. Or rather, graphics make up a huge chunk of the overall experience, but they do not have to be photo-realistic to accomplish that, and the experience is always made up of other factors such as music, story and overall immersion. If those are mixed well, you get a great game. Arcanum is one of those games. Conversely, a game can have great graphics but suck so much in other areas they simply aren't fun.
what about vista? id completely forgotten about this game till just now, and i want to get it... but vista sucks and thats what ive got now.
Arcanum runs better for me on Vista Ultimate than it ever did on XP Pro. I do've it running in compatability mode, for XP, I believe, quite ironically, but it does run well. Vista runs my old games better than XP ever did.
Make sure to keep the music high. For me it's higher than the other effects, the music in the game is very well composed, sounds very nice and goes well with the locales. I don't want to to tell you how to play the game, but on your first play through you should not use any walkthroughs to try to get that genuine feeling. Good luck on your journey.
I agree with Packer. Don't look at any walkthroughs or anything, no matter how tempting it may be. This is a game that's worth playing through many times. It's better to learn it by scraping your knees, so that on the next visits, you find things you missed last time. Hell, I've beaten the game a good 8+ times, and still'ven't seen everything.
If you're first playing, I'd make sure you patch to 1.0.7.4, the latest official patch, and then get Drog Black Tooth's unofficial patch. Both of these are available in the downloads section.
The game works just great on Windows XP, I remember I played it on my XP some years ago. It also works on Vista, as I recently installed it again because I missed this game so much. I have to "run as administrator" to start the game tho.
