Sorry to dig this up from a while back, but I'm new, and that's wrong...had to correct it.

(1+0)*4*8=32 which is 23 backwards. Any number can be made into 23 somehow...or so I've been told. This one's just so easy even I saw it.

Wait, this is the part where I go mad, tear down all the wallpaper and find all the calculations that prove without a doubt that every number even remotely associated with my life can be traced back to 23 isn't it?

I never saw that movie. Is it worth a rent or a lazy Friday night Dinner and a Movie on TBS watch?

ya, that is called cheating. You have to use only the "3" and the "0" and make it into 23.

I actually thought it was quite good, even though the critics disagree with me. That's not to say there aren't better movies out there.

wobbler, have you ever heard of this thing called ingenuity?

As DE mentoned, and as stated in the Wiki - it is all about the human ability to find what isn't (or shouldn't) be there, and making it fit...ingenuity.

As to how good the movie is - I think it is one of Jim Carrey's better flicks, along with Eternal Sunshine (another one the critics didn't like).

I was going to ask you about 29. Then I said to myself,

But that cannot be considered 23. So, humbug.

    Even easier might be 23 + (2*3) = 29...this is kinda fun.

Sqaure Root of 30 rounded to 5 decimal places = 5.47723
    Logarithm of 30 = 1.47712
    5.47723 + 1.47712 = 7
    30 - 7 = 23

    30 - (Square Root(30) + Log(30)) = 23

    No?

Alternatively, 30 = 3 and 0. Starting with the alphabet and numbering A as 0 (as per the first number in an array) and Z as 25, 30 becomes DA. DA backwards is AD or Anno Domini, in the year of our Lord, a reference to Jesus Christ. They believe Jesus Christ was actually born around 7 BC which means that in 30 AD, Jesus was... 23.

You made that in the 16th post on the 4th page of this thread and it's the 91st post in the thread overall (Interestingly enough 13, or 1 + 3 = 4 and 4 * 4 = 16 - a conincidence then that in the 16th post you chose 13 as your number?).

91 posts / 4 pages = 22.75 average posts per page which rounded up is... 23.

So the post in which you asked us to convert 13 into 23, brought the average number of posts per page in this thread, up until that point, to 23. It would've been so much better if you'd asked it in the next post though because then it'd have worked out to 23 precisely, without the rounding.

Alternatively, your post is number 181,360 in topic number 14,207. 181,360 / 14,207 = 12.76 or rounded up... 13. Again, it's interesting you supposedly chose that number "randomly".

    The square root of 181,360 is 426 rounded. 426 / 13 = 32.76923076923076923076923076923 (pretty sure that's recurring).

Sure you're not trying to tell us something?

Now, with DU's counting I can totally agree, since he starts out with 30:)

well if you want to start with 30, not 23, just reverse the process...

    30 / 2 = 15 / 3 = 5 - 2 = 3

    Why are you subtracting 2?

That's just like saying 30 can be made in to 23, just subtract 7, sure this is correct, but nothing special.

Ingenuity is a funny thing to observe, like watching the retarded kid hammer a square peg into a round hole.

Because in the reasoning of the obsessed, a 5 isn't only 5 but also 2+3. Ask someone who've dug to deep into this about how many degrees the Earth's axis is tilted. The answer is 23, obviously. Then you counter his claim by saying that it's actually 23.5. Go figure what they'll do with that 5.

    But that's like saying 30 is 23 + 7*0...

Yes. You see, the point with numerology and people who get obsessed with it is the tendency to use seemingly miscellaneous and irrelevant data to prove that everything goes back to that magic number, 23. DarkUnderlord's calculation above is a good example. With regards to your example, imagine a numerology-obsessed guy who'll turn 30 tomorrow. To him, the 30 - 7 calculation makes perfect sense.
