Why does my healing-jacket not work anymore?
I'm level 30 Electrician/Gunslinger.
My tech level is near max.
It used to accelerate my healing, but I think it stopped functioning after I made an offering to Torg. Does that nake sense?

 

Your tec level may be to high if it work with magic. Have a look at that % of power for the thing.

The healing jacket is a tech item. I had this same problem: it healed me to full once, then never worked again. I had forgotten all about it (eventually I'd wanted the Machined Plate, anyway).

 

Maybe it worn out.

 

I also seem to have a wierd problem with tech healing items.

I think a couple of days ago, my healing salves stopped having an effect on me if I apply them myself. They work if someone else applies them, though.

I have high tech and no magic, so it's not the magic thing.

 

I thought that at first. But I've made a brand new jacket, and it doesn't work either.

 

You do have some charges, right?

You must have them to wear use the jacket.

 

What charges? accelerate healing?

 

No, electrical charges...batteries. Likely need them for the jacket.

All need Charges (level 2 Chemistry) to function. The FS and HJ should only be equipped when needed, otherwise you'll burn through charges, especially on the World Map.

 

I've got plenty of charges. that's not the problem. I use the Tesla Gun, so I keep my battery quantity level up.

Stupid Question: What's the differnce between Charges and Batteries? I can make my own charges using my chem skill, and I routinely purchase batteries while in town.

Also, it may be unrelated but, I first noticed that my HJ stopped functioning after I made an offering to Torg, and my CN turned green. Is it possible that my blessing from Torg is conflicting with my HJ's ability to heal?

 

Charges and batteries are one and the same. Like fuel and bullets you can rely on stores for the finished product or make your own.

As for the HJ, if its not an issue of power try using a save game from just before your offering to Torg. Was your HJ equipped at the time of the offering? How high is your new CN? DOes it consistently not work even in nuetral and tech areas? Theoretically it (change to CN) shouldn't interfere since the HJ really just acts as a regular administering of healing salve. But since when does code agree with with theory?

 

I thought of trying to test this theory, but I don't have any old save games. It's a long shot anyway, Torg's blessing (in theory, as you say) shouldn't really impact how your HJ works.

 

Well, there's nothing wrong with my Hj. I put it on Jayna Styes and it worked normally. So there's something wrong with me. Damn!

 

Problem Solved!

Strangely, it seems Torg's bless was causing my HJ to stop functioning. As soon as Torg's blessing was removed, my HJ started working again. Weird!
