Lookie what I found.... ...and what I did with it... And these three: http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o314/rroyo/Arcanum/Hobbit2.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o314/rroyo/Arcanum/Hobbit3.jpg http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o314/rroyo/Arcanum/Hobbit4.jpg
Thanks everyone! If anyone wants to add the Hobbit holes to your mod and can't wait until Mathboy gives a yea or nay on adding these and a few other things to the dowload section, here's where they are being stored: https://ssl.rapidshare.com/cgi-bin/collectorszone.cgi User: rroyo Pass: marie Case sensitive! Enjoy!
Nice. It fits in with the Arcanum style amazingly well. Did you have to alter it in any way to achieve this or did it just end up like that when you converted it to 8bit?
It needed a fair amount of altering to make it work. Start with resizing the picture to make the doorway match a halfling's size. Use a screenshot of Arcanum's grass to replace the roof. Darken the entire picture 30%. Convert to 256 color, 8 bit BMP. Blue-out most of the surrounding picture and that plastic mossy grass. Cut and save as four 350 x 180 slices plus a 90 x 64 for a clickable door. Convert to .ART. Then spend almost two hours getting all the offsets lined up properly. After that I made a flip, and alternate - with the roof-line going to the ground on both side - and a flip of that. A full day's work to be sure.
For anyone who is contemplating adding new scenery to their mod - I found this place and spotted a couple of possibilities with just a cursory once-over. http://www.fantascene.net/ Update 2/21/08 : They've changed the start page and removed the halfling section.
A bit late perhaps, but that Hobbit hole looks absolutely terrific. It's consistent with the style of Arcanum.
Indeed! And I spotted three others there that had definate possibilities - along with a few other things. I went ahead and grabbed every picture that looked like it had even half a chance of being usable. The artwork is not as crisp and defined as what I found at Meshbox, but I'm reasonably sure I could sharpen up the lines enough to work. But, as tempting as the idea might be, I'm not going to be messing with the current layout of Brandybuck any time soon.
