I'm having trouble determining which weapons to use for my followers. The information on which to base my decision seems to include:

    - Tech/Magic Bias
    - Associated skill
    - Damage
    - Fatigue
    - Speed
    - Aptitude Bonus
    - Special bonuses

The bias and skills are obvious even for those of us who chose an idiot background but forgot to choose savant. Bonuses also seem pretty straight forward.

The rest of it is giving me a problem. My natural inclination is to view Speed as the most important stat, since a character's damage bonus is applied with every hit, as is his critical chance, so it would seem best to maximise the number of hits.

However, from this forum (and my followers natural inclinations), it seems people think the bigger (and slower) weapons are better, because of their damage and fatigue ratings.

I understand the importance of fatigue against spellcasters, but don't know whether it helps against non-spellcasters.

Also, I saw a reference in another post to different weapons being more effective against different enemies, but I do not know where to find out which is better against which.

I'd be interested to hear other people's opinions on how to choose a weapon.

BTW, for those of you inclined to post unhelpful/irrelevant/indecipherably terse comments on the end of threads, just for the sake of making a post, could I ask you not to do so in this thread, please?

This forum already has about 10 pointless comments for every worthwhile one, and it's starting to slow down, even over my ADSL link

I swear, the rankings thing was a very bad move by Terra-Arcanum. Anyone having played online games for more than 5 minutes knows that the whole Internet is bloated with players who think that having the status/rank/title is the important thing, and it doesn't matter how you got it.

some creatures have less fatigue than hitpoints so if you get rid of their fatigue, they faint and they left at your mercy. So it's good. But having the pyroaxe with alot of dex is just devastating example sogg swings 4 times perround for me and that is enough to kill anything in the game except the last boss

Against foes that damage your weapons (Automatons, Ore Golems, etc) use either an axe, hammer or mace.

For the techie followers the Balanced sword is a decent weapon. It's fairly easy to make, decent speed and decent damage. It's also light so even low strength followers can wield it.

I like choosing the katana for my followers. First of all, it's fast. It also does good (3-12 pts) damage. Best of all, it can be used by both magick and tech characters. The pyrotechnic axe is great as a techie, but you won't be making many of those as a mage. I gave a katana to Sogg and he rips through the enemies getting in 4 strikes per round.
